Check out this excerpt from the endorsement of Mitt Romney by the Los Angeles News Group:
"Romney is not merely an acceptable alternative to Obama. He is an honorable, trustworthy and steady leader "
WTF? Have I entered some parallel universe? This has to be satire doesn't it? Honorable? Really? The campaign that won't be dictated by fact checkers is honorable? Truly Amazing. Trustworthy? You've got to be kidding me, did they even pay attention to the campaign, it's been lie after lie from Mitt & Co. Steady? His opinions change with the wind, how does that portend to steadiness? It's appalling to me that much of the media is overlooking all of his shortcomings, I cannot recall a worse Presidential candidate, why he is not being called to the wood shed for this campaign is truly baffling to me. Anything to win I guess, it saddens me though.

Cardinals 3, 49ers 24
The Cardinals were embarrassed on prime time tonight, losing 24-3 to the 49ers in Glendale on MNF. The Cardinals drop to 4-4 on the season. This was easily the worst that I've seen the Cardinals look this season, they are regressing rather quickly, I fear that they are going to really struggle down the stretch. The OL is the key and they have been just horrid, they struggle in pass protection, they struggle in the running game, the offense just can't get anything going, that leaves the defense on the field way too long until they start to tire and then they struggle too. I don't like where this is headed.
Observations:
Observations:
- The Cardinals have now lost 8 of their last 9 games on MNF.
- So much for John Skelton's 6 game home winning streak as starting QB for Cards.
- I wonder if the Cards would consider swapping out Ken Whisenhunt for Ray Horton next year.
- Darryl Washington continues to shine for the Cardinals, he was one of the few bright spots.
- The Cardinals had 7 yards rushing tonight. Yes, 7 yards rushing.
- Does this count as a positive for the Cardinals?
- Still no Todd Heap, what a bust he's been.
- I had forgotten how much I dislike Jon Gruden on MNF.
- The roof, the roof, the roof was open at University of Phoenix Stadium.
- Up next? @ Green Bay to take on the Packers.

Arizona St 43, UCLA 45
The Sun Devils fall to UCLA 45-43 today in Tempe. ASU fall to 5-3 on the season. It was another heartbreaker for the Sun Devils, they gave up a last minute FG to lose it. It was a winnable game. They never quit, they kept battling but they just ran out of gas at the end. Why teams keep using that prevent defense at the end of games is beyond me. The defense really needs to play better going forward, they've been pretty good most of the season but this game and the Oregon game seem to have exposed them some.
Observations:
Observations:
- No Will Sutton today, they missed him disrupting the middle of the field.
- ASU could really use a WR who can stretch the field.
- Marion Grice continues to impress. As does D.J. Foster.
- 535 yards in total offense for ASU, and they still lost?
- Taylor Kelly has been great this year, but he does still play like a freshman at times.
- I did not realize that Brett Hundley was from Chandler, AZ.
- Josh Hubner is a pretty good college punter.
- Musical kickers continue today, John Mora in for Alex Garoutte this week.
- Still no end in sight to the Directv & PAC12 Network standoff.
- Up next? @ Oregon State November 3.
Minnesota 44, Purdue 28
The Gopher knocked off Purdue 44-28 today in Minneapolis to improve to 5-3 on the season. They are now 1 game from bowl eligibility. True freshman Philip Nelson was the star of this game, he finished 15-22 for 246 yards and 3 TD's, he also ran for 37 yards. I guess this is what a Jerry Kill offense looks like with a QB who fits their system. A couple of other true freshmen also looked good, Rodrick Williams and K.J. Maye, the youth movement is here.
Observations:
Observations:
- 458 total yards for Minnesota. I can't recall the last time that happened in a B1G game.
- MarQueis Gray looks good at WR.
- Michael Carter has really impressed me this season at CB.
- Brock Vereen is a much better Safety than he is a CB.
- Lack of depth is still an issue for the Gophers.
- 3 new starters on the OL is probably not ideal when you have a true freshman QB.
- 134 yards rushing for Donnell Kirkwood.
- The Gophers poor punting is becoming inexcusable.
- Brandon Beal wore Gary Tinsley's honorary number 51 today.
- Up next? @ home against Michigan.

- David Letterman exposes Donald Trump for the fraud that he is.
- Rocio Guirao Diaz lingerie pics are quite nice! Yes, there is video!

- Why does the GOP hate sex so much?
- Could we really end up with a Romney/Biden administration?
- NHL cancels games through November. Donald Fehr can't be helping.
- 'How the right lost in 2012' is a good read.
- Let us not forget, Supreme Court Justice appointments are for lifetime terms.
- Why any woman would vote for Mitt Romney is beyond me.
- Lolo Jones selected to U.S. Women's Bobsled team.

TPSG AZ General Election Endorsements
Scottsdale City Council
I endorsed Suzanne Klapp, Virginia Korte & Eric Luoma in the primary back in August, I see no reason to change my endorsement at this point, I gladly endorse them once again this fall over Guy Phillips, Joanne "Cooper" Phillips & Chris Schaffner. I just feel the three of them offer us the best opportunity to move us forward.
State Senate (District 24)
The Arizona legislature is in desperate need of some balance, the horrid Republican regime that we've been living under has made us into a national laughingstock. Voting in Katie Hobbs is as good a place to start, she's a solid Democrat with legislative experience, she gets my endorsement over Augustine Bartning.
State Representative (District 24)
I also endorsed Chad Campbell & Lela Alston back in the August primary election and I see no reason to change my endorsement at this point, I gladly endorse them once again, this time over Republicans Brian Kaufman & Gerard Davis.
Maricopa County Sheriff
Joe Arpaio must go, he's done enough damage already, it's time for some new blood in the Sheriff's office. I strongly endorse Paul Penzone over Joe Arpaio and sham candidate Mike Stauffer. Penzone is close in the polls, now is the time, give him a vote.
Board of Supervisors
Again, we have too many Republicans running this state (and county), we need more Democrats in office, that includes the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. I stongly urge a vote for David Ortega over Steve Chucri in District 2.
Scottsdale Unif No 48 = YES
The Scottsdale School district has had their budgets slashed the last 3 years, they desperately need an influx of money. The way I see it, it's a small price to pay to keep teachers employed, to keep all day kindergarten and to improve facilities. I strongly support this override.
Propositions:
114 = YES, probably not needed but I also don't see the downside to a YES vote.
115 = NO, I don't want a politicized judiciary, I strongly urge a NO vote.
116 = YES, there seems to be almost universal approval for this proposition, I concur.
117 = NO, there's the possibility for too many unintended consequences, I urge a NO vote.
118 = YES, stability, reliability, good for schools, works for me, I urge a YES vote.
119 = YES, it will protect military bases & prevent giveaways to special interests, I urge a YES vote.
120 = NO, there seems to be almost universal disapproval for this proposition, I concur.
121 = YES, the Open Elections amendment, our system is broken, let's try to fix it, I support it.
204 = NO, I supported the temporary sales tax increase but I don't want a permanent increase.

Vikings 17, Bucs 36
The Vikings fall to the Bucs 36-17 tonight to fall to 5-3 on the season. The Vikings didn't show up to play tonight, they looked really bad. Still, a 5-3 record at the half way point is much better than I had anticipated. The schedule doesn't get any easier from here on out though, I think they may struggle to finish 8-8 on the season. They've really been exposed recently, 8 in the block, blitz someone pretty much every down, make Ponder make a play, he hasn't been too successful at it lately. The more I see Ponder play, the less convinced I am that he's not the long term answer, I'm just not seeing it, he's making the same mistakes over and over again, he also doesn't have the arm to stretch the field (there's a lot of loft in his deep throws), those aren't good attributes for an NFL QB. Hopefully, I'm wrong and things start to click for him but I'm not optimistic at this point. It might be wise for them to hold onto Joe Webb for awhile. The defense needs to play better too, they couldn't get off the field.
Observations:
Observations:
- The Vikings are now 2-10 in their last 12 prime time games.
- Time of Possession: Tampa Bay 37:45; Minnesota 22:15
- The Vikings could use another impact WR.
- Another nice game for Adrian Peterson.
- 13 tackles for Harrison Smith & Chad Greenway.
- Christian Ponder is really struggling.
- Doug Martin is a pretty good looking rookie RB for the Bucs.
- Chris Kluwe may be spending too much time with the media not enough time practicing.
- Matt Blair blew the Gjallarhorn tonight.
- Up next? @ Seattle to take on the Seahawks.

Presidential Debate III
Did you catch the last Presidential debate of 2012? It was also Barack Obama's last ever debate. This debate was on foreign policy.
I have to say, Mitt Romney really seemed out of his element. He seemed to agree with many of President Obama's policies, it was almost like he was going into the prevent defense. Aren't you suppose to contrast your differences in debates, give people a reason to make a change? I didn't see it tonight. There were some small differences, Romney would maybe try to talk a little tougher and he would throw more money at the military, but that's about it. Looking a little deeper into the debate, Romney also seems to have no clue about diplomacy, his tough talk on China lacked some credibility, and his doubling down on the auto industry bailout is starting to get embarrassing. I also thought that President Obama made a strong point when he spoke of Romney's fluctuating positions and how it would lessen his credibility among foreign leaders who are looking for consistency. I'm not buying into the kinder gentler Mitt Romney either.
Big win in this debate to Barack Obama, he was much more Presidential, much more pragmatic and much more credible. I have a much harder time seeing Mitt Romney as the Commander In Chief. By my scoreboard, there were 4 debates (3 Presidential + 1 Vice Presidential), Obama/Biden won all 4. Yeah, that's right, I've decided to give Obama the first debate too, I just cannot get past how many lies, distortions and changes of positions Romney took in that debate.

TPSG Endorses Kyrsten Sinema
Have you seen the latest congressional approval ratings? They are at an all time low. Why do you suppose that is? Could it have something to do with all the gridlock, polarization and obstruction we've been seeing from Congress? Thomas Mann & Neil Ornstein, two highly respected congressional scholars studied the problems and wrote a book about it, they believe that this is the heart of the problem and they place the blame for it squarely on the Republicans. Robert Draper, another highly respected journalist also wrote a book detailing some of the problems, his book details a plot that was formulated on President Obama's inauguration day that called for the complete sabotage of President Obama's agenda, the plan included blocking and obstructing any and every policy that the President and Congressional Democrats proposed, they were not to give him any victory however big or small with the hopes that the blame would then fall on the President. Essentially, they put their party above the country. AlterNet reports that the unemployment rate would be under 6% without all of this Republican obstruction.
Given all of the above, why would you possibly want to send another Republican to congress? Especially a Tea Party backed Republican like Vernon Parker. In case you hadn't heard, the Tea Party is not real keen on the idea of bipartisanship. How exactly would that move us forward? I also have not seen a lot of substance out of Parker, all he seems to do is repeat Republican/Tea Party talking points, when pressed for details he seems to struggle (perhaps that has something to do with his unwillingness to debate his opponent). Kyrsten Simena on the other hand, is has been working in the Arizona legislature since 2005, she is well versed on the issues that most effect Arizonans and is more than willing to spell them out in detail. Although fairly liberal, she also does have a record of bipartisanship, she even got along with Russell Pearce of all people, she will work with the other party when necessary.
In the end, I'd prefer that we not reward the Republicans for their treasonous behavior or add another rubber stamp to the extreme John Boehner/GOP platform, thus TPSG strongly endorses Kyrsten Sinema in Arizona's District 9 U.S. Congressional race.

Vikings 21, Cardinals 14
The Vikings knocked off the Cardinals 21-14 today in Minneapolis. The Vikings improve to 5-2 on the season, the Cardinals fall to 4-3. It really wasn't a pretty game, both offenses struggled immensely, both will need to improve if they want to make a run down the stretch. An ugly win is still a win though, I'm guessing nobody predicted that the Vikings would be 5-2 at this point of the season, I'll take it.
Observations:
Observations:
- The Vikings play much better at home (4-0), than on the road (1-2).
- The Cardinals offense is really struggling, someone needs to step up.
- I can envision Percy Harvin & Darryl Washington as NFL Offensive & Defensive POY's.
- Harrison Smith again stepped up big, he's an impressive looking rookie.
- Remember when the Cardinals drafted Levi Brown over Adrian Peterson?
- William Gay is getting exposed at CB. No wonder the Steelers let him go.
- The Vikings did a good job of taking Larry Fitzgerald out of the game.
- Nice game by LaRod Stephens-Howling, he's not an every down RB though.
- Brian Robison stepped up against the weak Cardinals OT's. 2 sacks for Jared Allen too.
- Christian Ponder has not yet won me over. He needs to make better decisions.
- Bobby Massie struggled today, the growing pains continue along the Cards OL.
- Rob Housler had a good game at TE for the Cardinals.
- Vikings coaching staff made some baffling calls today, I'm not sold on them yet either.
- Vikings defense needs to play better on 3rd down.
- This was the worst that I've seen the Vikings special teams play this year.
- Vikings offense does function much better when Jerome Simpson is stretching the field.
- I think it's safe to say that the Todd Heap signing has been a huge disappointment.
- Vince Young to the Cards? A mobile QB makes sense with that horrid OL.
- Up next for the Vikings? @ home against Tampa Bay on Thursday night.
- Up next for the Cardinals? @ home against San Francisco on Monday night.

Minnesota 13, Wisconsin 38
The Philip Nelson era at Minnesota started with a thud today in Madison as the Gophers lost to the Badgers 38-13. The Gophers drop to 4-3 on the season, they are still 2 wins from bowl eligibility, it's going to be close. Nelson was solid in his debut, not spectacular, but considering it was his first collegiate game action and it was on the road against a quality B1G opponent he did okay, there's certainly hope for the future. He reminds me a bit of Chandler Harnish, he seems to be a much better fit at QB in the Minnesota offense than MarQueis Gray or Max Shortell. Now that he has started and burned his redshirt year, I hope they stick with him the rest of the way, he's definitely the QB of the future for this program and any game action he get's will only benefit him and the program moving forward. Given that MarQueis Gray's only hope to play at the next level is WR/TE, I would think he'd be fine with a permanent move to WR (and backup QB) where he can better showcase his talents for the scouts.
Observations:
Observations:
- Minnesota was 1-10 on 3rd down, that's not going to cut it.
- Roderick Williams is a load. I like the way he runs the ball.
- Nice to see a pass rush from the Gophers today. They couldn't stop the run though.
- Was that a Brandon Green sighting?
- James White & Montee Ball are quite the tandem for Wisconsin.
- The QB to center exchanges are getting embarrassing. Brian Bobek will be a welcome addition.
- Please give Chris Hawthorne another chance at the Kicker's job

Arizona St 21, Oregon 43
ASU got a good old fashioned butt whipping tonight, losing 43-21 to Oregon in Tempe, this loss drops the Devils to 5-2 on the season. ASU went up 7-0 early, after that it was basically all Ducks. It really wasn't as close as the score indicates either, Oregon really eased up in the second half. I knew it was going to be a long night when Will Sutton was injured on the first play of the game for the Devils. Sutton has been their best player this year, their defense had no chance without him wreaking havoc in the middle of the field. The Ducks play at such a fast pace and have so many great athletes, the Devils couldn't keep up, their defense just wore out. I guess it was a good measuring stick game for Todd Graham.
Observations:
Observations:
- I can envision a Alabama vs Oregon NCAA Championship game.
- ASU's lack of depth was very apparent tonight.
- Easily Taylor Kelly's worst game as starting QB. Growing pains were bound to happen.
- I didn't see any quit in Brandon Magee or D.J. Foster.
- Props to Anthony Jones for his pic-6.
- I wouldn't mind seeing Chip Kelly roaming an NFL sideline next year.
- ASU had 4 turnovers, up til now, turnovers hadn't been an issue in Graham's short ASU tenure.
- I enjoyed the back & fourth between ASU & Oregon fans this week.
- Still nothing new between the PAC-12 Netork and Directv.
- Up next? UCLA @ home next Saturday.
TPSG Endorses Richard Carmona
I don't know how you cannot be impressed with Richard Carmona's resume,
he's a former U.S. Surgeon General (appointed by George W Bush no
less), he's a physician, a former police officer, a former special
forces medic, he's a Viet Nam vet, a former SWAT team leader, a Bronze
Star winner and a Purple Heart recipient. What can't this guy do? His wide and varied background and vast knowledge on so many issues could only benefit the U.S. Senate. He's a
registered Independent, but he's running as a Democrat, so there should be lots of cross over appeal for him. He may even be too moderate for my
tastes to tell you the truth, still he's better than the alternative.
The alternative being long time Arizona U.S. House Representative Jeff Flake. Flake is best known for his fight against pork barrel spending, he's ardently opposed to any and all sorts of public spending (how that actually benefited Arizona I'm not quite sure). He rarely (i.e. never) crosses party lines, he'd pretty much be a rubber stamp for Mitch McConnell. In my opinion, he was actually part of the problem with the do-nothing congress of these past four years, why anybody would want to reward him for that is beyond me. Do we really need more of that? Isn't it time Congress starts to govern again? Wouldn't it be better to bring in someone who could offer at least offer a chance at some bi-partisanship?
We need to be thinking big picture here too. The Republican Party's recently passed one of the most conservative platforms in American political history. Do you really want to take the chance that they gain a majority in the House and Senate and start pushing that conservative agenda? That's a truly frightening thought to me.
I strongly endorse Richard Carmona for Arizona's open U.S. Senate seat.
