Colorado 40, Arizona State 16

The Sun Devils fell to Colorado 40-16 tonight in Boulder.  Arizona State falls to 5-2 on the season with this loss.  Arizona State has been winning with smoke and mirrors for the most part this season, this game shouldn't have really surprised anyone, the better team clearly won tonight.  The Sun Devils really are who we thought they were, a young team with an inexperienced QB that struggles on the road.  On the bright side, lots of young guys are getting playing time and that should help the program moving forward.

Observations:

• Colorado had never beaten Arizona State before tonight. 
• Manny Wilkins got the start at QB for the Sun Devils.  
• Zane Gonzalez is Arizona State's clear MVP thus far this season. 
• The Sun Devil offense was MIA in this one. 
• I'm surprised that the Sun Devils didn't get Dillon Sterling-Cole more snaps. 
• Arizona State's special teams continue to shine. 
• Kalen Ballage hasn't been the same since his 8 touchdown game. 
• Zane Gonzalez has now scored in an astounding ASU record of 46 consecutive games. 
• Arizona State continues to have some success with the Sparky formation. 
• The Sun Devil defense just cannot stop giving up the big plays. 
• It was interesting to see Jack Smith in the game for Arizona State. 
• Arizona State needs some remedial tackling drills. 
• Total Yards:  Colorado 580, Arizona State 199
• Rushing Yards:  Colorado 315, Arizona State 42
• First Downs:  Colorado 27, Arizona State 7
• Phillip Lindsay averaged an astonishing 8.5 yards on 26 carries for Colorado.  
• Jimmie Gilbert had himself quite a game on defense for Colorado. 
• Mike MacIntyre has done a nice job at Colorado. 
• It's really pathetic that the PAC12 Network & DirecTV still have no TV deal. 
• Up next?  Washington State @ Sun Devil Stadium next Saturday night.
