Vikings 24, 49ers 13

The Vikings shock the 49ers 24-13 today in Minneapolis to improve to 2-1 on the season.  It's probably a bit early in the season for this to be considered a trap game but I think that's exactly what it was for the 49ers, they were playing on the road, they were coming off 2 impressive wins to open the season, they were playing against a less talented team, I think they took the Vikings lightly and they paid the price for it.  That being said, it was also the best game that the Vikings have played in quite some time.  It was a nice win, against a quality improvement, they appear to be moving in the right direction.

Observations:

• Only 1 penalty for the Vikings, that's a huge improvement over last week. 
• I've been impressed with rookie DB Harrison Smith thus far this season.
• The Vikings CB play is vastly improved from the end of last year.   
• The Vikings have to do better on their kick coverage units. 
• The replacement referee's were not kind to the Vikings.
• DE Jared Allen finally gets his first sack of the season and it's a big one.
• WTF Toby Gerhart?  Hold onto the damn rock.  
• Jerome Simpson will be eligible next week, they desperately need his ability to stretch the field.
• The Vikings really need to incorporate TE John Carlson into the offense. 
• Was that Josh Duhmel on the Vikings sidelines blowing the gjallarhorn?  
• Up next? @ Detroit to take on the Lions.
