The Cardinals knocked off the Rams 19-13 today in a battle of 1-6 teams. This win moves the Cardinals to 2-6 on the season and snapped their 6 game losing streak. Special teams were the key to this game, the Cardinals blocked a Rams FG attempt to end the 4th quarter and force OT, then won the game on a 99 yard punt return for a TD by Patrick Peterson. It wasn't pretty but a win is a win, hopefully they can build upon it and close out the second half of the season strong.
Observations:
-Cards won the special teams battle today, that won them this game.
-70 yards rushing for the Cards, half of that coming on Skelton scrambles, that's not going to cut it.
-Cards defense is slowly getting better, the talent really is there, it's just a matter of execution.
-Patrick Peterson is a special talent, 3 punt returns for TD's in the first 8 games of his career, he's improving at CB too.
-3 sacks in 3 starts for Sam Acho, he may have a future in this league.
-Kevin Kolb vs John Skelton? Give me Andrew Luck over either.
-Someone please send out an ABP on Todd Heap.
-The roof was open, you don't see that enough at University of Phoenix Stadium.
-Short a historic collapse, the 49ers have all but clinched the NFC West.
-Up next are the Eagles in Philadelphia.
