Minnesota 13, Michigan 35

No surprise, Michigan retained the Little Brown Jug, knocking off the Gophers 35-13 today in Minneapolis. The Gophers fall to 5-4 on the season, they remain 1 game from bowl eligibility.  The Gophers just gave up too many big plays today, everytime it looked like they had a stop, Michigan would hit something deep.  Conversely, nobody really stepped up big for the Gophers, someone needed to make a big play or two and nobody did.  Overall, a pretty lackluster performance, too many mental mistakes, some questionable play calling, no big plays, they really need to play better if they want to take that next step as a program. 

Observations:

• I wasn't a fan of the fake field goal attempt, they should have taken the points. 
• Too many penalties by the Gophers today.  Some questionable calls too though.
• The Gophers red zone offense needs a lot of work.
• On the bright side, it was much better than losing 58-0. 
• Devin Gardner did a nice job replacing  Denard Robinson.  
• Rashede Hageman was a beast again in the middle today.   
• Was that Ben Utecht singing the National Anthem? 
• Taylor Lewan would have looked nice on the Gopher OL. 
• Keenan Cooper wore Gary Tinsley's honorary number 51 today.
