GOP in 2016

It appears that the GOP will have a much more impressive list of candidates in 2016 than they had in 2012.  Here's my list of Top 10 possible candidates:

1 - Chris Christie - he's received bipartisan praise for his handling of Hurricane Sandy, his popularity is soaring.  Even if you don't agree with his politics, you have to admire the strength of his convictions.

2 - Marco Rubio - he's a rising star in the Republican party, he's young, he's bright, he's very articulate and well spoken and most importantly he's latino.  The GOP desperately needs to widen their tent and running a latino for President is certainly one way to do that.

3 - Jeb Bush - the "Smart" Bush. He's got the family name, he's got the connections, he's got the resume.  For those looking for a moderate voice in the GOP party he may be the man.

4 - Bobby Jindal - he's been very vocal since the election, he seems to be angling to be the voice of reason among the Republican party.  As the current Governor of Louisiana he's also got the requisite executive experience that so many look for.

5 - Sarah Palin - it may be time to put up or shut up for Sarah Palin, I'm sensing it's 2016 or bust for her.  She's still extremely popular among the Christian Conservatives and the Tea Party crowds, she's also very well spoken, very articulate and very attractive, there's lots of positive traits.  Her unfavorables are also still very high though.

6 - Paul Ryan - his visibility has never been higher.  Like Rubio, he's young, he's bright, he's very articulate and well spoken.  His experience in the 2012 campaign would no doubt prove very beneficial.  The question for him though is if he can get the stench of Mitt Romney off of him.

7 - Rand Paul - he seems poised to take over the party's 'libertarian' mantle from his father.  There's always going to be a wing of the party that supports someone of his ilk.  He'd probably be better off running as a libertarian or in a third party but I don't see that happening.

8 - Mike Huckabee - he's very popular among the Christian Conservatives, he's got experience running a state, he's also very visible due to his radio show and frequent Fox News appearances.

9 - Scott Walker - he became a hero to the far right for his union busting in Wisconsin, the Tea Party and far right like him a lot.  How his stances would play on the national scene are up for debate though.

10 - Mitch Daniels - he's the current Governor of Indiana and the former George W Bush budget director, lots of people where pushing for him to run in 2012.  He's also got extensive business experience while working in the private sector.   Not real charismatic but very bright.

Others:   Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, Mike Pence
