Cardinals 13, 49ers 27

The Cardinals close out their 2012 season with another loss, this time 27-13 to the 49ers in San Francisco.  The Cardinals finish their season with a 5-11 record.  They lost 10 of their last 11 games.  It was another pretty pathetic display of football, the Cardinals are just a mess of a football team.  I really don't see how they can bring Ken Whisenhunt back at this point, I'm guessing Black Monday may be making an appearance in Arizona tomorrow.  Rod Graves is probably in danger too, and rightfully so.  Personally, I would get rid of them both, they've been living off their Super Bowl appearance for 3 years now.  I could live with Steve Keim as GM with Ray Horton as head coach (with a completely new offensive staff led by someone such as Mike Mularkey, Chan Gailey or Norv Turner).

Observations:

• Brian Hoyer makes it 4 starting QB's for the Cardinals this season.   
• Michael Floyd clearly had his best game as a Cardinal today.  
• Total Yards:  49ers 407, Cardinals 262.  
• Beanie Wells could have helped, just saying.
• Draft needs:   Offense, Offense and more Offense.  
• Have we seen that last of Adrian Wilson & Darnell Dockett in Cardinal uniforms? 
• Larry Fitzgerald had 2 catches for 13 yards, that may not sit well.  
• Limbo is the word of the day for the Cardinals. 
• Levi Brown over Adrian Peterson?  That one still hurts if you're a Cardinals fan.
• Up next?  NFL Draft on 04/25/2013.  7th overall pick.

Vikings 37, Packers 34

Wow, game of the year?  If you didn't enjoy this game you're not a football fan.  The Vikings knocked off the Packers 37-34 today in Minneapolis.  This win improved the Vikings record to 10-6 on the season and clinched a WILDCARD spot for the Vikings!  Who would have thunk it?  Quite the remarkable turnaround from last years 3-13 season for the Vikings!  The Vikings are peaking at the right time, they've beaten 4 quality team in a row now, the playoffs are all about being hot at the right time, can you say NY Giants II?  Ok, I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but I can dream can't I?  My only disappointment from today was the Adrian Peterson finished 9 yards short of Eric Dickerson's NFL single season rushing record. 

Observations:

• Adrian Peterson for MVP?  It has to be down to him or Peyton Manning. 
• Everson Griffin just keeps stepping up his game.  He's becoming quite a force.
• Why is there always questionable officiating when the Vikings & Packers play?  
• I hate Aaron Rodgers.  Damn, I wish he was a Viking.  
• Is Leslie Frazier going to get some Coach of the Year votes?   He should.
• Did Mason Crosby struggle against everyone but the Vikings this year? 
• It was not Phil Loadholt's best game.  He knows he's a free agent soon right?
• Christian Ponder has played much better since getting married.  
• Vikings secondary really struggled when Antoine Winfield got hurt.
• Welcome back Brian Robison!  Good to have you back.
• Up next?  Playoffs baby!  @ Green Bay for a rematch with the Packers.

Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl

Arizona State 62, Navy 28

ASU finishes its season with a 62-28 thrashing of Navy today.  The Sun Devils finish the year with an 8-5 record.  Navy was just, excuse the pun, outgunned in this game, they never had a chance.  It was a pretty impressive performance by ASU.  That makes it 3 wins in a row for ASU, that should move them into Todd Graham's second season with some positive momentum.  I like what I've seen out of Todd Graham, if he sticks around, I predict good things happening at ASU. 

Observations:

• It was good to see Marion Grice have a good game, he's had a rough week.  
• Taylor Kelly was outstanding, he far exceeded expectations this season.    
• 2.5 more sacks for Will Sutton, I'd hate to see him go, but he really should go pro.  
• Rashad Ross had a huge game in his last game as a Sun Devil.  
• Total Yards:  Arizona St 648, Navy 351.
• ASU scored a TD on their first 9 drives of the game.  You can't ask for more than that.
• There was no quit in Navy, I wouldn't expect that there would be.  
• No punts by ASU?  How is Josh Hubner suppose to show off to the NFL scouts?  
• Shouldn't John McCain be in Washington working on the 'fiscal cliff' deal?  
• Did you like ASU's new helmets?

Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas

Texas Tech 34, Minnesota 31

The Gophers fall to Texas Tech 34-31 tonight in their first bowl appearance since 2009.  The Gophers finish the year with a 6-7 record, that hardly sterling, but it's still an improvement from last year, they appear to be moving in the right direction.  This game was a heartbreaker, they were up 31-24, then gave up a late TD and lost on a game ending FG.  It was a winnable game, they just couldn't close them out.  I know the Gophers were 13 point underdogs and played well, still it was so frustrating!  

Observations:

• Where the heck did that Triple-I Offense come from?  
• Nice defensive adjustments by Tracy Claeys in the 2nd half.   
• MarQueis Gray is a load, too bad he couldn't stay healthy.   
• A Jordan Lynch like leap next year by Philip Nelson would be nice.
• Michael Carter ends his Gopher playing career in fine fashion. 
• Texas Tech played a really sloppy game.  
• Seemed like the Gophers were playing not to lose instead of playing to win late in the game.  
• NCAA kick return record for Troy Stoudermire!  Nice job!  
• The Gophers really lost their composure late in the first half. 
• Where have you been hiding Derek Engel? 
• A healthy and rested Gopher OL really played well tonight.  
• Keanon Cooper wore Gary Tinsley's honorary number 51.  
• Up next?   UNLV @ TCF Stadium on 08/29/2013.

2012 TPSG Hot 101 List

This year has really flown by, I think it's well past time that I unveil the 2012 TPSG Hot 101 List.  Only the hottest of the hot make this list.  You won't find Jennifer Lawrence or Mila Kunis on my list, they're cute girls and all, but are they really amongst the hottest of the hot?  I would say that's debatable.  My only criteria  is that you have to be able to find them with an internet search.  Candice Swanepoel takes the 2012 crown!  She's freaking gorgeous.  Looking at the list it should be obvious that I'm more about lean and toned than curvy and voluptuous, although toned and curvy does make many appearances in the list.  Marisa Miller was last years hottest but she had to go and get pregnant so I couldn't keep her in the top spot, I did keep her on the list though as I suspect that she will regain her pre-baby body in no time.  I dropped Megan Fox and Jessica Alba off the list for that same reason.  Anyways, here's the list (with links):

Cardinals 13, Bears 28

Yet another loss for the Cardinals, this time 28-13 to the Bears in Glendale.  The Cardinals drop to 5-10 on the season.  If you're a Cardinals fan, you really shouldn't be too upset with this loss, it was essentially a meaningless game for them, all a win would have done is worsen their draft slotting.  They are who we thought they were.  Their offense is just plain bad, they need major upgrades at QB, OL and RB.  It's shaping up to be an interesting offseason for them.

Observations?

• Ryan Lindley is clearly not ready, whether he'll ever be ready has to be up to debate too.  
• You know it's bad when punter Dave Zastudil has been one of your best players.  
• Bobby Hoyer is not the answer at QB either.  Geno Smith would be nice.  
• The jury is still out on Nate Potter.  A franchise LT would be nice.  
• If the QB's are struggling, why not pound the rock?  4 carries for Beanie Wells?  WTF?
• 100 yards receiving for Fitz!  If only he had a QB. 
• I'm guessing we've seen the last of Adrian Wilson in a Cardinals uniform in Glendale. 
• Could this have been Ken Whisenhunt's last game as coach at University of Phoenix Stadium?
• The roof, the roof, the roof was open at University of Phoenix Stadium today.

Vikings 23, Texans 6

The Viking continue to cling onto their playoff hopes today with a 23-6 win over the Texans in Houston.  The Vikings improve to 9-6 on the season.  This was a pretty impressive win for the Vikings, on the road no less, and against a quality team.  I must admit, their 9 wins has exceeded my expectations for them this year, I would have guessed 6-7 wins tops (remember, they only won 3 games last year).  They close out the regular season next week at home against the Packers, that game may be a must win game for them. 

Observations:

• Props to Alan Williams and the Vikings defense for shutting down a very good Texans offense. 
• Marriage is suiting Christian Ponder well, this may have been his best game of the year. 
• Team MVP?  Adrian Peterson or Blair Walsh?  I know it's Peterson but Walsh has been good!
• I continue to be impressed with the play of DE Everson Griffin, he's on a mission.  
• Harrison Smith is the real deal.  Defensive Rookie of the Year?  
• Jarius Wright has been stepping up his game at WR.  He's no Percy Harvin but he played well. 
• Texans WR Andre Johnson is a beast.  Second only to Calvin Johnson at WR in my book. 
• Speaking of beasts, you can't help but be impressed with Texans DE J.J. Watt.  
• Now seems like a good time for Leslie Frazier and the Vikings to start contract extension talks.
• Was that Gopher coach Jerry Kill on the sidelines?   
• Up next?  @ home against the Packers. 

Best Rock Song of 2012?

It's "Hold On" by Alabama Shakes, at least according to About.com.  Rolling Stone concurs.



Then again, Loudwire says it's "Weatherman" by Dead Sara and they didn't even make the About.com list.  To each their own I guess.  I kinda like them both.

Piers Morgan on Gun Control

Thank you Piers!  I couldn't agree more.  It's sad.  Even sadder is that all we do now is sit back and wait for the next slaughter.   It's long past time for some rational gun control measures to be enacted.
