Minnesota 51, Iowa 14

The Gophers improved to 7-2 on the season today with a 51-14 win over Iowa in Minneapolis.  What a performance by the Gophers, they were clicking on all cylinders.  I really didn't see this coming either, Iowa had been on a pretty good run and the Gophers were coming off that ugly loss to Illinois. The Gophers remain in a first place tie in the Big Ten West, they've got a brutal schedule remaining though (Ohio State at home next week, then @ Nebraska & Wisconsin).  Nice win Gophers!

Observations:

• Floyd of Rosedale returns to Minneapolis!!!  The Axe is now on the clock!  
• This was the Gophers offense I envisioned earlier in the year.  
• Maxx Williams is one heckuva a good Tight End.  Sundays are calling his name.
• The Gophers offense can stretch the field, I give them that. 
• Was this Mitch Leidner's best game as a Gopher?  4 touchdown passes!
• Welcome back Jet Sweep!  I had missed you!  
• I like how the Gophers have worked K.J. Maye into the gameplan the last few games.
• David Cobb's stiff arm on that 2nd quarter TD run was a thing of beauty.  
• Don't overlook the performance of the Gophers defense today. 
• Steven Richardson Jr plays so much bigger than his size.  
• 2nd Quarter:  Minnesota 28, Iowa 0
• Turnovers:  Iowa 3, Minnesota 0
• Miles Thomas has done a nice job at fullback for the Gophers. 
• Rodrick Williams is still a bruising running back!
• Briean Boddy-Calhoun has had a nice season at CB for the Gophers. 
• The Gophers special teams had a nice day for the Gophers today.
• Donovahn Jones has to be a bigger part of the Gophers offense. 
• Wast that a Devon Wright sighting?  Nice to see. 
• How did this Gophers team lose to Illinois last week?  
• I like how the Gophers kept Mark Weisman out of the game.  
• How can you not pull for Jerry Kill?   
• It looked a bit cold and very patriot at TCF Bank Stadium. 
• Is there a worse announcing team than Beth Mowins & Joey Galloway? 
• Up next?  Ohio State @ TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis next Saturday.
