TPSG Top 10 Movies of 2008

Continuing with my look at the best movies of years gone by.

Top 10 Movies of 2008:
  1. The Dark Knight - Christian Bale, Heath Ledger
  2. Slum Dog Millionaire - Dev Patel, Freida Pinto
  3. Iron Man - Robert Downey Jr, Jeff Bridges
  4. The Wrestler - Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei
  5. Gran Torino - Clint Eastwood, Bee Vang
  6. The Bank Job - Jason Statham, Saffron Burrows
  7. In Bruges - Colin Farrell, Brendon Gleeson
  8. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett
  9. Burn After Reading - George Clooney, Frances McDormand
  10. Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Jason Segel, Kristen Bell
In my opinion, "The Dark Knight Rises" was easily the best movie of 2008.  Heath Ledger's Joker will go down in the history of film as one of the all time great villains.  "Slum Dog Millionaire" is an extraordinary piece of filmmaking by Danny Boyle.  "Iron Man" brought Tony Stark to film in an incredibly fast paced, fun ride. Mickey Rourke's performance in "The Wrestler" was the performance of the year.  Clint Eastwood delivered once again as a bigoted Korean war veteran who eventually warms up to his new Hmong neighbors in "Gran Torino".  "The Bank Job" is probably the best work from Jason Statham.  "In Bruges" starts slowly but it really builds to an outstanding finish.  The aging effects of Brad Pitt in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" alone make this one worth watching, it's pretty remarkable.  "Burn After Reading" is yet another top notch movie by the Coen brothers.  "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" IMO was the funniest movie of the 2008.
