TPSG Top 10 Movies of 2011

Of the movies that I've seen, here are my Top 10 for 2011.

1. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig - Great movie, action, suspense, twists and surprises and most importantly Rooney Mara. 
2. Moneyball - Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill - I'm a sucker for a good baseball movie, this one was very good.
3. Bridesmaids - Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph - easily the funniest movie of the year. Wiig was hilarious and Melissa McCarthy nearly stole the show. 
4. Rise of the Planet of the Apes - James Franco, Freida Pinto - I really enjoyed this one, the direction was fantastic, the special effects top notch, it really moved along nicely.
5. Cedar Rapids - Ed Helms, John C. Reilly - A really understated but hilarious movie. Helms and Reilly were a great combination. 
6. Drive - Ryan Gosling, Albert Brooks - Gosling has become quite the actor, he was great in this role as a Hollywood stunt driver who doubles as a wheelman for hire.  Strong supporting cast too.
7. Mission Impossible:  Ghost Protocol - Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner - Probably the best action movie of the year, they had some incredible stunts in this one to go along with a fast moving story. 
8. Warrior - Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton - Tom Hardy is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors.  If you are a UFC fan you'll like this one. 
9. The Descendants - George Clooney - Clooney does middle aged dolt pretty good in this one as he tries to reconnect with his young daughters after a tragic accident to their mother. 
10. Contagion - Matt Damon, Lawrence Fishburne - A frightening movie about the spread of a deadly disease across the world.  

Worst Movie of 2011?   I should name this the annual TPSG Adam Sandler Award, was there a worse movie in 2011 than "Jack and Jill"???   I doubt it.  I'm a big Adam Sandler fan ("Just Go With It" was tolerable) but some of the crap he puts out just makes me shake my head.
