The Vikings fall to the Bears 17-13 today to finish their season with a franchise tying worst single season 3-13 record. You hate to root for a loss but a win today would not have benefited the Vikings one bit, the loss at least sealed the #3 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and that will benefit them more that a season ending win. Now they just need to settle their stadium situation, and quick, lest the Vikings being playing in Los Angeles (and soon).
Observations:
-Jared Allen was a man possessed today, he had 3.5 sacks and finished the season with 22 sacks. That breaks Chris Doleman's Vikings team record and ties him with Mark Gastineau for the 2nd best single season sack total in NFL history.
-It was nice to see a good game out of Toby Gerhart (67 yards on 15 carries), they will need to count on him heavily next season.
-The Bears snapped a 5 game losing streak, still, without Cutler and Forte, they're not very good.
-I'm guessing this is the last we've seen from Mike Martz as Bears Offensive Coordinator.
-So long Jimmy Kleinsasser, it was nice run. I wouldn't be shocked if we've seen the last of Steve Hutchinson and maybe Visanthe Shianco too (at least in a Vikings uniform).
-I'm tired of the Tampa-2 defense, give me a 3-4 any day.
-Joe Webb played like he wants a shot at the starting QB job next year.
-Building blocks for the Vikings going forward? Christian Ponder/Joe Webb, Percy Harvin, Kyle Rudolph, John Sullivan, Jared Allen, Everson Griffen, Christian Ballard, Chad Greenway, Toby Gerhart. Lots of help needed, especially at OL, WR and in the secondary.

-Up next? NFL Draft, April 26, 2012.
