Vikings Trade Percy Harvin

The Vikings traded Percy Harvin to the Seahawks yesterday.  I have mixed feelings on this move.

On one hand, it pisses me off to no end that it came to this, Percy Harvin is an incredibly dynamic game changing WR, he will not be easily replaced.  He was playing at an MVP level through the first half of the season before his injury, it would have been nice to see him and Adrian Peterson both at full speed again.  It would seem to me that this was a prime opportunity for Leslie Frazier to earn his stripes as a a head coach and work things out with Harvin.

On the other hand, I can also understand the Vikings thinking, he had become more trouble than he was worth and given his history, I'm guessing that things wouldn't change anytime soon.  Tying up $11-12+ million a year on a malcontent with a history of injury problems was probably not the best way to move forward.  Getting a first, a third and a seventh round draft pick for him is probably better than they could have expected.

Now what though for the Vikings at WR?  How do they fill the void?  Their top returning WR is Jarius Wright, he had 22 catches for 310 yards in his rookie year.  No other WR on the roster has as many catches or yards.  That's a scary thought.

I suspect that they try to bring in a top WR or 2 via free agency and they'll have plenty of money to spend.  There have been some rumors that they have an interest in Mike Wallace from the Steelers, I suspect that he winds up in Miami though.  I'm guessing they'd have a better shot at Greg Jennings.  They may want to take a flyer on Danario Alexander too.  Wes Welker or Danny Amendola could be in play too if Jennings and Wallace fall through.

I also have to suspect that they will draft a WR with one of their now 2 first round draft picks.  Tavon Austin would be a nice replacement for Harvin.  Robert Woods or DeAndre Hopkins could also be in play at the end of round one.  Keenan Allen may be available too but he's got some red flags popping up.
