Minnesota Vikings Draft - Day 3

The Minnesota Vikings selected Pitt OT T.J. Clemmings in round 4 (number 110 overall) of the NFL Draft today.  He's really raw but he has all the tools you look for in an OT, great value on day 3, many draft analysts had projected him as a first round candidate.  I don't see him replacing Matt Kalil or Phil Loadholt but he provides some nice depth at both OT spots.

In the 5th round (number 143 overall), the Vikings selected Southern Illinois TE MyCole Pruitt.  This guy is an interesting prospect, he's not huge but he's been highly productive and has nice speed.  He will provide some nice depth for the Vikings at TE.

Also in the 5th round (number 146 overall), the Vikings selected Maryland WR Stefon Diggs.  I had a feeling the Vikings were high on this guy.  Nice athlete, he's got plenty of potential if he can stay healthy.  Dare I say he reminds me of Percy Harvin?  Great with the ball in his hands!  I really like this pick.

In the 6th round (number 185 overall), the Vikings selected Oklahoma OT Tyrus Thompson.  I wonder if they may see him as an OG?  Big guy, family man, high character.  You never know if these late round picks will hit but he has the tools to make it.

Also in the 6th round (number 193 overall), the Vikings selected Louisville DE B.J. Dubose.  Prototypical NFL size, not the greatest of athlete, practice squad/developmental type player?

In the 7th round (number 228 overall), the Vikings selected Alabama OT Austin Shepherd.  That's 3 OT's drafted by the Vikings today.  That's a lot of OT's, hopefully they have position flexibility and can also play OG.  The Vikings obviously wanted to improve their OL depth.  Shepherd comes from a great program and played against the best that college football had to offer (i.e. SEC).  He seems like a worthwhile 7th round pick to me.

Also in the 7th round (number 232 overall), the Vikings selected Newbury LB Edmond Robinson.  I love these late round small school sleepers.  I was hoping that their small school sleeper would be Chris Bonner, but I can live with this pick too.  Perhaps they can still sign Bonner as an UDFA?
