Lions 16, Vikings 14

The Vikings fell to 6-8 on the season today with a 16-14 loss to the Lions in Detroit.  It was a winnable game, in fact, they led for most of it, only surrendering the lead in the final four minutes of the game.  They had their chances too, turnovers and missed field goals sunk them.  Not all was lost though, for the most part they played pretty well despite several key injuries, they are also clearly improving as the season progresses.  In the long run, a close loss probably will help them more anyways.  I loved the effort, keep in up Vikings!

Observations:
  • Minus those 2 interceptions, Teddy Bridgewater played well today.
  • Xavier Rhodes did a nice job of slowing down Calvin Johnson.
  • Matt Asiata does run hard, I will give him that much.
  • Teddy Bridgewater to Charles Johnson is starting to have a nice ring to it.
  • Everson Griffen was uncharacteristically quiet today.
  • I didn't quite understanding the targeting to Cordarrelle Patterson late in the game.
  • Don't overlook the fact that the Lions have the NFL's 2nd rated defense.
  • Jarius Wright has statistically improved every season in Minnesota.
  • 68 yard field goal attempt or a hail mary?  Walsh can hit that.
  • First 25 minutes:  Vikings 14, Lions 0
  • Final 35 minutes:  Lions 16, Vikings 0
  • Turnovers:  Vikings 2, Lions 0
  • 2 minute Teddy still needs some work on his 2 minute offense.
  • It was nice to see Kyle Rudolph contributing to the offense.
  • Cordarrelle Patterson finally had a nice kick return.
  • Ben Tate hasn't really stood out to me so far in his short Vikings run.
  • Even though he was 0-3 on field goals, I cannot blame Blair Walsh for this loss.
  • The Vikings offensive line is in tatters.
  • Viking draft needs:  OL, LB, RB, WR, DB
  • Ndamukong Suh's arms are massive.
  • Up next?  @ Miami to take on the Dolphins next Sunday.
