The NFL Draft is a week from today, I think it's time to update my 2013 NFL Mock Draft, so here goes, version 5.0:

  31. San Francisco 49ers - Kawann Short - DT - Purdue
  32. Baltimore Ravens - Kevin Minter - LB - LSU

Notes:
  • All signs still seem to be pointing towards Luke Joekel going first overall.  I'm guessing the Chiefs are open to moving down though.  Eric Fisher is a possibility too.
  • The Jags could go any one of many different directions.  I'm still thinking a pass rusher to fit Gus Bradley's defense is where they go.  Geno Smith is also a possibility as are Sharrif Floyd and Star Lotulelei.
  • The Raiders are hard to read too, I could see Geno Smith or Star Lotulelei landing here too.  In the end though, I see them going with a disruptive force in the middle (Sharrif Floyd or Star Lotulelei).
  • The Eagles are another wildcard.  They could use a CB (Dee Milliner?), an edge rusher (Dion Jordan or Barkevious Mingo?), an anchor on their DL (Star Lotulelei) or they could look to land their QB of the future (Geno Smith).  The steam seems to be on OL though.
  • An edge pass rusher just makes too much sense for the Lions.  I don't see how they can pass on Ansah (unless Dion Jordan drops to them).  Eric Fisher is not out of the realm of possibility either, or is Dee Milliner. .
  • I still think the Browns are hoping that they can grab Dee Milliner (to team with Joe Haden).  If Milliner is gone, I could see them going with Dion Jordan or Barkevious Mingo.
  • I don't see how the Cardinals can go anywhere but OL.  Lane Johnson is visiting Phoenix, that means there must be some interest on their part.  If Eric Fisher or Luke Joekel were to drop I'd imagine they get the pick before Johnson though.  Don't rule out Chance Warmack or Jonathan Cooper either if the top 3 OT's are gone.  I'd suggest they kick the tires on Brandon Albert too.
  • The Vikings could really use a WR but I don't think that they really value any of the top receivers as worthy of pick 23 or 25 (especially given the latest red flag on Keenan Allen).  I suspect they go defense on both picks then grab a WR in round 2.  They need help at CB, LB and DT and there should be quality players at all 3 of those positions available to them.  I'm guessing Desmond Trufant and Manti Te'o at this point but I could see Alec Ogletree, Arthur Brown, Kevin Minter and Sylvester Williams going at either spot too.
  • Previous Mocks:  Version 1.0, Version 2.0, Version 3.0. & Version 4.0.
