Minnesota 17, Purdue 45

Gophers lose to Purdue 45-17.  This is really getting embarrassing.  At least last week's loss was against a good Michigan team, this week they were pounded by a poor Purdue team.  Blaming Brewster and his poor retention rate and the current lack of depth is getting old too, at some point you need to coach up the players you have.  I'm not expecting victories, what I am expecting though is a team that shows up to play, a team that doesn't beat itself, a team that shows some effort, a team that plays disciplined fundamentally sound football and I really haven't been seeing much of any of that.

Observations:
-The defense is horrible, they cannot stop anyone.
-The offense is horrible, they cannot score on anyone.
-Purdue gave up 551 yards to Notre Dame last week, today the Gophers got 209 yards against them.
-Max Shortell showed again today that he is clearly not ready at QB.
-Hold on to the ball Donnell Kirkwood!!!!
-They really miss CB Troy Stoudermire's athleticism & toughness on defense, hopefully he's back soon.
-Where's the self respect?  How do these guys walk around campus all week after playing like this?
-It was interesting that Mike Bellotti was doing color commentary on ESPN for this game, many were hoping he'd be roaming the sidelines as head coach for the Gophers this year.  I'm guessing many would be willing to trade in Kill for Bellotti at this point.
-Speaking of ESPN, why is Beth Mowins calling games for them???
-Up next is Nebraska at TCF Stadium in Minneapolis, get ready for a long afternoon of football.
