MOST VALUABLE PLAYER - Tom Brady - New England Patriots
Brady get's the call here over Michael Vick. Brady just seemed to do more with less, many predicted doom when Moss was traded but Brady seemed to actually pick up his game at that point.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Tom Brady - New England Patriots
Obvious choice given that I picked him as MVP. Vick probably had a few of the best games ever from a QB this season but he also missed 4 games, Brady played all 16, he get's the call. Phillip Rivers and Aaron Rodgers would probably fall in the 3-4 spots in my voting.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Jerod Mayo - New England Patriots
There really weren't any dominant defensive players this year IMO. Mayo isn't flashy, he's just incredibly productive (he led the NFL in tackles), thus he gets my vote. Others worthy of consideration? Cameron Wake of the Dolphins, DeMarcus Ware of the Cowboys, Clay Matthews Jr of the Packers & Asante Samuels for the Eagles.
COACH OF THE YEAR - Todd Haley - Kansas City Chiefs
Tough call here, lots of coaches did a great job but in the end you have to go with the guy who exceeded everybody's expectations and that was Haley, hardly anybody seemed to give them a chance at making the playoffs this year yet he won 10 games and won the AFC West. Bill Bellicheck did another great job in New England, the expectation level probably works against him but he's certainly worthy of consideration. Lovie Smith did a great job with the Bears, he could make a strong case too. Mike Smith of the Falcons should receive some votes for the job he did in Atlanta. Steve Spagnuolo of the Rams, Raheem Morris of the Bucs & Jim Schwartz of the Lions also exceeded expectations with their respective teams.
OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - Sam Bradford - St Louis Rams
The Rams are set at QB for years to come with Sam Bradford, he was easily the best offensive rookie in the NFL this year. Nobody else was really close. If I had to pick a runner up, I'd pick WR Mike Williams of the Buccaners over WR Dez Bryant of the Cowboys.
DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - Ndamukong Suh - Detroit Lions
Another easy choice, Suh was a dominant force in the middle for the Lions, teams were already double teaming him. Others worthy of consideration? Probably a couple of CB's, Joe Haden of the Browns and Devin McCourty of the Patriots.
COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Mike Williams - Seattle Seahawks
Williams had been out of the league for 2 years, when he last played he as fat, out of shape and reporting sporting a doobie. His career was resurrected when his former college coach Pete Carroll took the head coaching job with the Seahawks. He lost weight, put away the doobies, basically just grew up and the results on the field were very impressive (65 catches, 750+ yards, 2 TD's).
BREAKOUT PERFORMER - Arian Foster - Houston Texans
Foster gets the nod over Peyton Hillis of the Browns. Foster went from 257 yards in his rookie year to an NFL leading 1616 yards this season, throw in 16 TD's and you've got your breakout performer of the year.
