Fooball Ramblings

  • The Panthers & Cardinals appear to be the clear class of the NFC.  The Packers and Vikings look like good bets for the playoffs, but I can't see either making a title run.  Keep an eye on the following last risers to keep things interesting:  Seahawks, Bears, Lions & Bucs.  Stick a fork in the NFC East.
  • The Patriots, Broncos & Bengals appear to be the class of the AFC.  The Patriots would have to fear a playoff game in Denver in January.  No other AFC teams should scare anyone, although the Colts, Texans and Chiefs are all playing well.
  • My top 4 teams for the CFP?  Clemson, Alabama, Iowa & Oklahoma.
  • If Chip Kelly is to remain in the NFL, he needs to find a QB who can run his system.  Sam Bradford is not that guy.  Is it crazy to think that Colin Kaepernick could be?   I don't think so.
  • If Chip Kelly were to leave the NFL to return to the NCAA, I cannot think of a better fit for him than the University of Miami.  Kelly with that rich south Florida talent base is a scary thought.
  • In my mind the Heisman Trophy comes down to 2 players, Alabama's Derrick Henry and LSU's Leonard Fournette, with Henry having the edge.
  • It's long past time for the NFL to make their officials full time employees.
  • I'm oddly not opposed to the NFL moving a team to Europe, I love those early start times and triple or quadruple-headers of NFL football on Sundays.
  • Kirk Ferentz should be the easy call for NCAA Football Coach of the Year.
  • It would be nice if the NFL could decide what makes for a catch
  • Clay Helton did s a great job at USC this season, but in my opinion, USC is a school that should be thinking bigger than Clay Shelton as permanent head coach.
  • There are way too many college bowl games.
  • I'm really excited to get a look at the Vikings new U.S. Bank Stadium next season.
  • Even if it costs them a few recruits, I like that new Minnesota coach Tracy Claeys has decided to retool his offense, it's been holding them back for a while now.  Hopefully, they don't stray too far from the run first approach though.
  • Tom Brady and Carson Palmer appear to be clear front runners for 2015 NFL MVP
  • I have to believe that the NFL is not too excited about the upcoming "Concussion" movie.
