Suns Fire Alvin Gentry

The Phoenix Suns fired head coach Alvin Gentry on Friday.  This move has left me shaking my head.  While I'm far from pleased with where the Suns are at this point, the thought that Alvin Gentry was the problem is beyond ridiculous, I think he's actually done a decent job with the roster that he was given.  The problem starts at the top, Robert Sarver, Lon Babby, and Lance Blanks all seem to be in over their heads, the organization appears rudderless and without a plan, perhaps some of the accountability should be pointed in that direction.  If they really want to improve the team, they need to put better players on the floor.  They are in desperate need of an impact player, someone to excite the fans, someone to give the franchise some life and I'm not confident that they have the front office in place to acquire a player like that.  The timing of this move is a prime example, what was the rush?  With or without Gentry the Suns are not going to be making a playoff run this season, couldn't they have waited until they at least had a succession plan in place to replace Gentry?  I really miss Jerry Colangelo!
