I'm really not sure what all of the hype over this straw poll is all about.  The track record for picking winning candidates is pretty weak, it's actually non-existent, it's never correctly picked the eventual nominee.  It's also in Ames, IA, should Ames, IA really have much of a say in who gets the eventual nomination?  It also only had 16K people voting in it, that seems like a small sample size to me considering that millions will be voting come election day.  Add in that Mitt Romney and Rick Perry (who everyone seems to believe will be the final 2 standing) didn't even actively participate.  Finally, the winner this year was Michelle 'Crazy Eyes' Bachmann, she probably has the least chance to win a general election against Barack Obama than any of the above candidates.  I just don't get it.
