Sicario - starring Emily Blount, Josh Brolin & Benicio Del Toro. I actually saw this movie a couple of weeks ago. I loved it, I think that it's easily one of the best films of 2015. It's a very powerful look at drug cartel violence along the U.S./Mexico border. The central question the film poses is how far we as a society should be willing to go to bring an end to the violence. Blunt stars as FBI agent Kate Macer, she's recruited to join a task force of government agencies to track down the head of a Sonoran drug cartel. Brolin plays Matt Garver, he heads the task force and he is more than willing to blur the lines of acceptable behavior to accomplish his mission. Del Toro plays the mysterious Alejandro, his background is unknown but he's very determined to fulfill his task, damn the consequences. It's all quite
griping and blends together
quite well thanks to the direction of
Denis Villeneuve. Great movie, it's quite
powerful and really makes you think.
I will give it 4 out of 5 stars (
*****).
