Arizona St 55, Washington State 21

The Sun Devils knocked off Washington State 55-21 last night in Pullman, WA.  The Sun Devils move to 6-2 on the season (and 4-1 in the Pac-12).  Arizona State is now bowl eligible.  ASU is looking to be the class of the Pac-12 South at this point, their upcoming matchups with UCLA & Oregon State are looming large.  The Devils dominated this game right from the start, it was 21-0 before the first quarter was even over, WSU seemed deflated at that point.  It was good to see!  I would imagine that ASU will be cracking the Top 25 rankings again soon. Nice win Devils!

Observations:
  • 7 more touchdowns for ASU QB Taylor Kelly (5 passing, 2 rushing).
  • Arizona State has now scored at least 50 points 4 times this season.
  • Arizona State has now gained over 500 yards 5 times this season.
  • WTF?  No touchdowns for Marion Grice?  That doesn't happen often.
  • Arizona State has been pretty proficient in the Red Zone this season.
  • I loved the fake punt calls by Arizona State in the third quarter.
  • Total Yards:  Arizona State 557, Washington State 302.
  • First Downs:  Arizona State 33, Washington State 14.
  • Rushing Yards:  Arizona State 282, Washington State 2.
  • 13 straight field goals for ASU kicker Zane Gonzales.
  • It was good to see Jaelen Strong back on the field!
  • ASU LB Carl Bradford seemed to be in the WSU backfield every play.
  • So much for the cold weather of Pullman slowing down the Sun Devils.
  • Was that actually a fumble by Marion Grice?  That doesn't happen often.
  • Washington State really likes to throw the ball.  54 passing attempts.
  • Taylor Kelly is becoming quite a proficient pooch punter.
  • It was good to hear Tim Healy is back calling the game.
  • Given time, I still believe that Mike Leach will be successful at Washington State.
  • Up next?  @ Utah next Saturday.  Do NOT sleep on the Utes.
