TPSG Mid Season Baseball Awards

Being that MLB is at their All Star Break, it seems like a good time to give out the TPSG Mid Season Baseball Awards.

AL MVP
Adrian Gonzales of the Red Sox gets my nod (.355/17/77) ahead of Jose Bautista of the Blue Jays and Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers.   Gonzales is quite frankly the best player on the best team, how does he not get the nod?

NL MVP
Tough call but I'm going with Jose Reyes of the Mets over Prince Fielder of the Brewers & Matt Kemp of the Dodgers.  Kemp and Fielder have better power numbers but Reyes leads the NL in batting, he has 30 stolen bases and his defense is again stellar, he is the key cog to that whole team.

AL CY YOUNG
Justin Verlander of the Tigers has been dominant at times, he gets the nod over the Yankees CC Sabathia & Jerrod Weaver of the Angels.

NL CY YOUNG
I'm going to give the slight edge to Roy Halladay of the Phillies over Jair Jurrjens of the Braves.  Cole Hamels of the Phillies has also had a nice first half.

AL ROOKIE
Michael Pineda of the Mariners seems to be the clear choice in the AL.  Jeremy Hellickson of the Rays & Mark Trumbo of the Angles have also had good first halfs.

NL ROOKIE
Kind of a weak class of rookies to this point, as of now the edge would have to go to either Freddie Freeman of the Braves, Danny Espinosa of the Nationals or Craig Kimbrel of the Braves.  I'll give the edge to Kimbrel  at this point but there is an opening for either Freeman or Espinosa (or Dom Brown of the Phillies should he stay healthy) to take this award by seasons end.

AL MANAGER
Manny Acta has the Indians in first place at the All Star break, I for one didn't think that would be possible given their finish last year, he get's my nod.

NL MANAGER
I'm going to give this to Kirk Gibson of the Diamondbacks over John Russell of the Pirates & Ron Roenicke of the Brewers.  The Diamondbacks were just dreadful last year (65-97) and Gibson has them competing for a playoff spot at this point.

****All Star Game Results****
National League 5, American League 1
