2016 Presidential Field Update

Rick SantorumGeorge Pataki, Lindsey Graham & Martin O'Malley are now all officially in for the 2016 Presidential race.  That increases the Republican field to 10 and counting and the Democratic field to 4.

Here's how they rank in my opinion (as far as their chances):

Democrats:
  1. Hillary Clinton
  2. Bernie Sanders
  3. Martin O'Malley
  4. Lincoln Chafee
Republicans
  1. Marco Rubio
  2. Rand Paul
  3. Mike Huckabee
  4. Ben Carson
  5. Rick Santorum
  6. Rick Perry
  7. Lindsey Graham
  8. George Pataki
  9. Carly Fiorina
  10. Ted Cruz

Martin O'Malley's only hope would have to be that the media is able to topple Hillary Clinton, which they will try their damndest to do.

Who is Lincoln Chafee?  And why is he running for President?

Rick Santorum doesn't stand a chance, he's too far right on social issues to win a general election, and his claim to be fighting for the middle class can be easily dismantled by his actual stance on the issues.

The problem with George Pataki is that nobody remembers George Pataki.  Having been a pretty successful GOP Governor of a deep blue state, he will need to carve out a niche as the most rational candidate amongst the crowded GOP field and hope people grow decide they are tired of all the polarization that they are seeing in Washington.  I think it's safe to say that he's a long shot at best.

I'm not sure who Lindsey Graham appeals to, he's a hawk on foreign policy and the far right despises him, he's got a long road ahead of him in this race.  John McCain II?

Rick Perry has a better chance at ending up in jail than in the White House.

***Edited to add Rick Perry & Lincoln Chafee.
