Stephen Paea from Oregon St set the NFL Combine record for most reps on the bench press @ 225 lbs over the weekend. I'm not sure it means much though, look at the list at the end of the video, who are those guys, I haven't heard of any of them. Still, I must admit it's pretty impressive to put up 49 reps.

TPSG Academy Award Predictions
The 2011 Academy Awards are tomorrow night, here are my predictions:
Best Picture
The way I see it this one comes down to "The King's Speech" or "The Social Network" and the best film that I saw last year was "The Social Network" so I'm going with that film to win this one. My long shot pick would be "Toy Story 3", I'm just not sure that an animated film will get the nod.
Best Actor
There seems to be some late steam around Javier Bardem for "Biutiful", but I have to believe that Colin Firth is a lock for his performance in "The King's Speech", I predict that he'll win this one. My long shot pick here would be Jess Eisenberg for "The Social Network", his portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg was excellent.
Best Actress
This one seems to be between Natalie Portman for "Black Swan" and Annette Benning for "The Kids Are All Right". Natalie Portman probably should win it but I'm guessing Annette Benning will get the nod for her body of work (that seems to be how the Oscar's work). My long shot pick here is Jennifer Lawrence for her performance in "Winter's Bone".
Best Supporting Actor
I think this one comes down to Christian Bale for his work on "The Fighter" and Geoffrey Rush for his work on "The King's Speech". I'll go with Christian Bale, the steam on him is pretty heavy. Jeremy Renner for his performance in "The Town" may also stand an outside shot.
Best Supporting Actress
This is a tough one, it should go to Hailee Steinfeld for "True Grit" but I'm thinking she'll be seen as too much of a newcomer. I predict that Amy Adams get's the nod for her work on "The Fighter".

Why does the GOP hate Unions?
I don't get it, someone explain to me why the GOP is so opposed to labor unions. They bill themselves as the party of the middle class don't they? Aren't labor unions responsible for the 5 day work week? And the 40 hour work week? And child labor protections? And job security? And safer working conditions? And pensions? And competitive pay? Don't those things benefit the middle class? Shouldn't those be things to strive for? If so, why are Republicans so against labor unions?
I'll tell you why, the way I see it there are 2 reasons and neither has to do with helping the middle class. 1) Big business loves cheap labor and GOP are shills for big business. You know, part of that whole failed trickle down theory, give more to those on top and hope it trickles down to the peons. How does holding wages and benefits down benefit the middle class though? 2) Labor unions donate significantly more money to Democrats than Republicans and it's not even close. Think about that for a second, why do you think that would be? Could it be that Democrats do more to help the middle class, they push for better pay and wages, they push for more worker protections, don't you think they be more receptive to helping unions? Of course they would be. Now if the GOP could bust up these unions don't you think that would benefit them (by minimizing their donations to the Democratic party and Democratic candidates)?
Wake up people, the GOP is not looking out for you, they are looking out for those at the top, stop voting for them already.

Just Go With It
"Just Go With It" with Adam Sandler opens today, from what I can tell there's only one reason to go see it, can you take a guess what that reason is?
Speaking of Adam Sandler, I have a love/hate relationship with him, I love some of his movies and I hate some of his movies. Anyways, here's my list of Top 10 Adam Sandler movies:
****EDIT****
OK, I saw "Just Go With It", there's actually another reason to see this movie, Jennifer Anniston, she looked great (in a bikini no less). Actually, the movie, although a bit predictable, was pretty good, I recommend.

QB Options for the Vikes & Cards
I think it's safe to say that both the Vikings and Cardinals will have a new starting QB next year, the only real question is whether they go for a stop gap type of guy or draft a QB (or both). From what I can see, these are the best options out there.
TIER 1
TIER 1
- Kevin Kolb - easily the best option for anyone looking for a long term answer at QB
- Matt Hasselback - I don't see the Seahawks letting him go, but I think he's got a few years left, he'd be an ideal stop gap QB
- Vince Young - still young & extremely talented, not a student of the game though, high risk and reward with him.
- Carson Palmer - he's requested a trade, I'm not sure the Bengals want to trade him though. He hasn't played well the last couple years either though.
- Kyle Orton - not flashy but he's been productive in Chicago and Denver.
- Donovan McNabb - near the end of his career, he might be an alright stop gap QB.
- Mark Bulger - he hasn't played much the last 2 years, he might still have some tread left on the tires though, many in the Cards organization apparently like him.
- Bruce Gradkowski - he played well with the Raiders last year, still a young guy too.
- Matt Flynn - played well when Rogers was out, I can't help of thinking about Scott Mitchell though.
- Alex Smith - perhaps a change of scenery would help, although I doubt it
- Kerry Collins - the Titans may keep him if Young is shipped out, he's a solid veteran.
- Shaun Hill - another guy who's not flashy, he doesn't have the big arm, but he's fairly productive.
- Matt Leinart - for Vikes, not Cards obviously, he might just need an opportunity.
- Tarvaris Jackson - for Cards, not Vikes obviously, he's got the tools, why wasn't he given more of a chance though?
- Dennis Dixon - he's a young guy, he's got some ability, lots of unknowns about him too though.
- Billy Volek - career backup, solid whenever given a chance though.
- Rex Grossman - played ok in relief of McNabb in Washington, might be best suited for a back up roll at this point though

Packers Win Super Bowl
The Packers beat the Steelers 31-25 to win Super Bowl XLV tonight. Turnovers really did in the Steelers, the Packers scored off of all 3 of the Steelers turnovers, that was just too big of a hole to dig out of. I'm really not a Packers fan so I hated seeing them win, at least it went down to the wire and was an entertaining game. Other observations: 1) Aaron Rodgers certainly deserved the Super Bowl MVP Award with his 3 TD passes, he definitely needs to be in the conversation when talking about the best QB in football. 2) What happened to Christina Aguilera? She looked like a mess and she screwed up the National Anthem. 3) I wasn't too impressed by the Black Eyed Peas halftime show, it just seemed to lack something. 4) The commercials were nothing fantastic either, a few good ones but way too many very mediocre ones too. 5) Now, the NFL owners and players need to set aside their differences and reach agreement on a new CBA so that no games are missed next year, there is plenty of money to go around, get it done.
