My Problem with the Tea Party

I hear over and over from those in the Tea Party (I like to call them Tea Baggers) about how they are just a simple grass roots, bipartisan group of Americans who want their country back.   I have several issues with this.  One, how can a group with the backing and support of FOX News and other corporate interests consider themselves to be a grass roots movement?   Do these idiots really not see that they are being manipulated by some very wealthy and influential groups?  Two, why are there no current democratic leaders affiliated with the Tea Party?  If they are a bipartisan group wouldn't that mean that they have at least some support from at least a few democrats?  Where are those leaders?  Are there any?  I haven't heard of any.  Three, somewhat related to two, the leaders of the Tea Party all come from the Far Right (Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Glen Beck, etc), how do people on the Far Right represent all Americans?  It just does not compute, it seems to me that it leaves out the oh lets say 70-80% of the population that isn't far right.  So please do not buy into it, they are not a grass roots movement, they are not a bipartisan group, they do not represent all Americans, please do not support them.

Springer Schools Hannity

Dems need to do more of this, they need to start taking the debate to the GOP, they've accomplished a lot more than they've been given credit for since Obama was elected, they need to stop letting the GOP shape the debate with their distorted rhetoric (like blaming the Democrats for the poor economy and inflated deficit, when both problems started under GWB's watch) .  Unfortunately, most people won't take Jerry Springer seriously, still it's a good blueprint.

QB Controversy for Cardinals

Matt Leinart has already been benched by Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt in favor of Derek Anderson.  It seems like a rash decision from where I sit.  They really haven't given Leinart much of a chance IMO, they've only played 2 exhibition games so far and he didn't play much in either.  In those 2 games he completed 10 of 13 passes.  Granted, he didn't move the team down field in either game and his longest completion was only for 16 yards, still it doesn't seem like much of an opportunity for a former number 1 draft pick.  Throw in the fact that Larry Fitzgerald, Early Doucet and Beanie Wells have been banged up and not playing and it made it even tougher on Leinart.  I'm also not enthralled by Derek Anderson, he's bigger with a much stronger arm, but he's never been known for his smarts.  I really wish that they had given Leinart a legitimate chance during the regular season.  I guess I'll just have to give Coach Wiz the benefit of the doubt as he's seen every practice and no doubt feels the vibe of the team regarding the players confidence in Leinart.

Favre retuns to Vikings

Big surprise, Brett Favre is returning to the Minnesota Vikings for the 2010-2011 Season.  Ok, not really much of a surprise, everbody seemed to figure that he'd return as soon as the Vikings broke training camp in Mankato.  He's played this game every year for past 4-5 years now.  I'll assume this will be his final year.  I've got mixed feelings on this.  On one side, I don't know that it's real fair to the rest of his teammates who have been busting their butts all spring/summer to let him just waltz in and start playing, it also sets a bad precedence that they may come to regret.  On the other hand, they are obviously a better team with him and their chances of reaching the Super Bowl did just go up dramatically.

Best Bond Girls

Entertainment Weekly is speculating that the James Bond series may be in line for an extended delay due to financial troubles at MGM.   I for one hope that's not the case, Daniel Craig has done a great job of revitalizing the franchise IMO.   In the meantime, I figured I'd rate the Bond girls.

1-Olga Kurylenko - 'Quantum of Solace'

2-Halle Berry - 'Die Another Day'

3-Barbara Bach - 'The Spy Who Loved Me'

See the next page for numbers 4-10

2010 Big Ten Football Preview

I can't wait.

AZ GOP No Tax Pledge

I get a kick out of the GOP, especially here in Arizona, they are highly entertaining.  Take their Anti-Tax Pledge for example, apparently it's only valid for state income taxes.   Remember the increased sales tax pushed by GOP Governor Jan Brewer?  Apparently, it doesn't count because it's a sales tax.  Now they've decided to limit 'homeowner rebates' which will cause local school districts to raise taxes via increased property taxes.  Again, it apparently doesn't count because it won't effect the state income tax rate. What a shell game and the GOP lemmings don't even see it, they're convinced that the GOP is looking out for them by keeping their state income taxes low.

Dbacks raise ticket prices

The Arizona Diamondbacks recently announced that they will increase the price of tickets for the 2011 season.  Apparently, it doesn't matter that they are on the pace to lose 101 games, or that the local economy is still struggling, or that they have cut payroll dramatically over the past couple weeks, the important thing is that they get their's.  Perhaps it's time for a basic Business 101 class for the Dbacks front office.  Let me sum up, you don't raise ticket prices in a down economy when your gutted team sucks on the field.
