Batman vs Superman
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice - starring Ben Affleck & Henry Cavill. I saw this movie over the weekend. I went in with low expectations, and while I did miss Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan, I did actually enjoy it and I would recommend it. The plot was a bit convoluted, it basically boiled down to Batman vs Superman vs Lex Luther vs some sort of CGI monstrosity, it's probably best not to overthink it too much though lest it ruin the film for you. I did really like that the movie gave plenty of backstory from the view point of both Batman and Superman (along with Lois Lane, Alfred and all the usual). Other positives, there was plenty of action, the fight scene between Batman and Superman was fantastic, the acting was for the most part pretty good and I was surprised by the ending, I didn't see it coming. On the downside, it was a bit on the long side (2 hours, 33 minutes), I wasn't a fan of Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luther and the CGI did get to be a bit much at the end. Not terrific, not horrible, certainly worth a watch though. They of course set up the upcoming Wonder Woman and Justice League films too, if that floats your boat any.
I will give it 3 out of 5 stars (*****).

Bernie Bots
Let me start by stating that I'm a huge Bernie Sanders fan, I have been for years, I even voted for him in last weeks Arizona Presidential Primary. I would like nothing more than to see him become the next President of the United States.
That being said, I'm not a real fan of a lot of other Bernie Sanders supporters. I understand that a lot of them are young and excited and perhaps just now for the first time getting involved in politics, but their exuberance has in many cases been getting the better of them. Their painting of Hillary Clinton as some sort of monster not worthy of the Presidency and their threats to not vote for her in November if she wins the nomination are incredibly short-sighted and fool-hardy. In case you hadn't noticed, she holds a huge delegate lead and will most likely win the Democratic nomination.
Fact is, Hillary Clinton is immensely qualified, her foreign policy experience greatly exceeds that of any other Presidential candidate and she is very popular with women, blacks and Hispanics, all of whom will play a very important role in electing the next President. Regarding her so-called faults? Her position on the Iraq war has been greatly misrepresented. Her use of a private email server, while wrong, seem to have been standard practice. Benghazi, while a tragedy, was hardly her fault and has been far more politicized than any other embassy attack in U.S. history. As for taking money from the Wall Street, who am I to criticize someone from taking a boat load of money for giving a speech, who in their right mind would turn that opportunity down, and why does it have to necessarily mean she will give them special favors?
Further, do I really need to remind them of the possible consequences of their actions? Have they already forgotten the havoc that Ralph Nader caused? If you're going to rail against money in politics, who do you think would give you the best opportunity to overturn Citizens United? If you are concerned about Climate Change, do you really want to put off action to stem it for another very critical 4+ years? The Supreme Court has leaned right for a good 40+ years now, do you think that would change with a President Trump/Cruz appointing the next Supreme Court justice (or 3)? Do we really need to go back to the disastrous Republican economic policies that led to unprecedented inequality and the greatest recession of the past 80+ years? I haven't even mentioned the mess they'd make of healthcare, social security, foreign policy and a host of other issues either.
So to sum up, go ahead Bernie Bots, support him, campaign for him, vote for him, but please stop disparaging Hillary Clinton and please consider the consequences of another Republican administration should you follow through on your threats to not vote for Hillary Clinton should she win the nomination. There is no shame in accepting defeat while at the same time knowing that you did move Hillary Clinton further to the left and you did make her a better candidate. Better yet, get involved, vote more than once every four years, run for office, start a political revolution!

2016 TPSG NFL Mock Draft 3.0
Now that NFL free agency has shaken out a bit, I think it's a good time to update my NFL Mock Draft. So here goes:
- Tennessee Titans - Laremy Tunsil - OT - Mississippi
- Cleveland Browns - Carson Wentz - QB - North Dakota State
- San Diego Chargers - Jalen Ramsey - CB - Florida State
- Dallas Cowboys - Joey Bosa - DE - Ohio State
- Jacksonville Jaguars - Myles Jack - OLB - UCLA
- Baltimore Ravens - Ronnie Stanley - OT - Notre Dame
- San Francisco 49ers - Jared Goff - QB - California
- Philadelphia Eagles - Ezekiel Elliott - RB - Ohio State
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Deforest Buckner - DE - Oregon
- New York Giants - Shaq Lawson - DE - Clemson
- Chicago Bears - Sheldon Rankins - DT - Louisville
- New Orleans Saints - A'Shawn Robinson - DT - Alabama
- Miami Dolphins - Vernon Hargreaves - CB - Florida
- Oakland Raiders - Mackensie Alexander - CB - Clemson
- Los Angeles Rams - Paxton Lynch - QB - Memphis State
- Detroit Lions - Jack Conklin - OT - Michigan State
- Atlanta Falcons - Reggie Ragland - LB - Alabama
- Indianapolis Colts - Taylor Decker - OT - Ohio State
- Buffalo Bills - Robert Nkemdiche - DT - Mississippi
- New York Jets - Noah Spence - DE - Easter Kentucky
- Washington Redskins - Eli Apple - CB - Ohio State
- Houston Texans - Corey Coleman - WR - Baylor
- Minnesota Vikings - Josh Doctson - WR - TCU
- Cincinnati Bengals - Laquon Treadwell - WR - Mississippi
- Pittsburgh Steelers - Andrew Billings - DT - Baylor
- Seattle Seahawks - Jason Spriggs - OT - Indiana
- Green Bay Packers - Kenny Clark - DT - UCLA
- Kansas City Chiefs - William Jackson III - CB - Houston
- Arizona Cardinals - Ryan Kelly - C - Alabama
- Carolina Panthers - Kevin Dodd - DE - Clemson
- Denver Broncos - Jarran Reed - DT - Alabama
At this point, I'm still guessing Laremy Tunsil ends up at number 1, although the Titans seem to be doing their damnest to generate some interest in that top pick.
The Vikings seem to have fortified their offensive line enough this offseason to focus their efforts to improve elsewhere. At this point, I would guess they will focus on WR or perhaps DT. Rankins or Billings would be hard for a defensive coach like Mike Zimmer to pass on if they are available, but Teddy Bridgewater needs some weapons to throw to too.
The Cardinals are in a tough spot late in round one. The acquisition of Chandler Jones alleviates their pressing need to improve their pass rush. I'm guessing the top 3 QB's are off the board. All the top CB's could also be off the board. In this case, their best case scenario would probably be to nab the top interior OL on the board or trade down and accumulate picks.
Previous Mocks: 1.0, 2.0

Arizona Republic Presidential Endorsements
Being that I live in Phoenix and the 2016 Arizona Presidential Primary is Tuesday, I thought I'd share.
On the Democratic side, The Arizona Republic has endorsed Hillary Clinton.
Here are a few comments:
"Hillary has the most experience--and best judgement--of any candidate running for President."
"She has an unrivaled command of he issues--domestic and international."
"She's never backed down from a tough fight."
"She has the mettle to be President. The sound judgement to be commander in chief."
On the Republican side, The Arizona Republic has endorsed John Kasich.
Here are a few comments:
"When the two leading Republican Presidential candidates don't meet basic qualifications for office, what do you do? Look to John Kasich, the inexplicably overlooked alternative."
"He has experience as governor of Ohio, where he enjoys high popularity ratings for an economy that fared better than most during the Great Recession and aftermath."
"John Kasich is the very picture of the serious man, with the demeanor and temperament to be trusted as commander in chief. He respects institutions and comports himself in a way that builds respect for institutions."
Personally, I have thrown my support behind Bernie Sanders on the Democratic side as his stand on the issues and his vision for the future most closely resemble my own. I would have no trouble voting for Hillary Clinton in November though if she is to win the nomination, I think she'd make a great President. On the Republican side, I have to agree with the Arizona Republic, John Kasich is the only remaining Republican candidate who I could stomach as POTUS, there is a very low bar though and I still think he'd take us in the wrong direction.

Top 10 Basketball Movies
In honor of March Madness, I thought that it would be a good time to rank my Top 10 Basketball Movies, so here goes.
- Hoosiers - 1986 - Gene Hackman, Dennis Hopper
- He Got Game - 1998 - Denzel Washington, Ray Allen
- White Men Can't Jump - 1992 - Wesley Snipes, Woody Harrelson
- Hoop Dreams - 1994 - William Gates, Arthur Agee
- Blue Chips - 1994 - Nick Nolte, Mary McDonnell
- Coach Carter - 2005 - Samuel L Jackson, Rick Gonzalez
- Love & Basketball - 2000 - Sanaa Lathan, Omar Epps
- Semi-Pro - 2008 - Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson
- One On One - 1977 - Robbie Benson, Annette O'Toole
- Space Jams - 1996 - Michael Jordan, Wayne Knight
I don't know how anyone could have anything but "Hoosiers" at the top a list like this, it's a phenomenal underdog story. "He Got Game" is one of Spike Lee's best films, and I loved Washington and Allen in it. "White Men Can't Jump" is a hilarious look at street ball. "Hoop Dreams" IMO is one of the best documentaries ever made. If you want to see a young Shaquille O'Neal, check out "Blue Chips", Nick Nolte is pretty good in this one too. Samuel L Jackson dishes out some tough love in "Coach Carter". "Love & Basketball" is a great look at, well, love & basketball. "Semi-Pro" is typical Will Ferrell craziness, it is holding up very well too, give it a watch. "One on One" may be the most underrated basketball movie ever made. "Space Jams" was a movie well ahead of it's time.

2016 Presidential Field Update
Marco Rubio has called it quits on his 2016 Presidential ambitions. That leaves us with 5 candidates still in the running, 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats. It seems like only yesterday that there were 22 candidates.
Here's how the remaining candidates rank in my opinion (as far as their chances):
Democrats:
Republicans:
Republican voters never seemed to forgive Marco Rubio for his part in trying to pass comprehensive immigration reform back in 2012. I also think many Republicans saw him as an empty suit, too inexperienced and better at giving a speech than actually doing his job (similar in their minds to Barack Obama). I suspect that he winds up on K Street or Fox News in short order as he will probably want to cash in on his Presidential run while not having much responsibility. Regardless, he was not someone I wanted to see as President, I say good riddance.

Brent Nathan Brown
Props to Brent Nathan Brown for recognizing the folly of his ways.
To My President,
I sincerely hope that this reaches you, as far too often praise is hard to come by. Apologies to people who deserve it perhaps even less so.
I did not vote for you. Either time. I have voted Republican for the entirety of my life.
I proudly wore pins and planted banners displaying my Republican loyalty. I was very vocal in my opposition to you–particularly the ACA.
Before I briefly explain my story allow me to first say this: I am so very sorry. I understand written content cannot convey emotions very well – but my level of conviction has me in tears as I write this. I was so very wrong. So very very wrong.
You saved my life. I want that to sink into your ears and mind. My President, you saved my life, and I am eternally grateful.
I have a ‘pre-existing condition’ and so could never purchase health insurance. Only after the ACA came into being could I be covered. Put simply to not take up too much of your time if you are in fact taking the time to read this: I would not be alive without access to care I received due to your law.
So thank you from a dumb young man who thought he knew it all and who said things about you that he now regrets. Thank you for serving me even when I didn’t vote for you.
Thank you for being my President.
Honored to have lived under your leadership and guidance,
Brent Nathan Brown

TPSG Endorses Bernie Sanders
Arizona's Presidential Primary is on March 22. Since Arizona allows for early voting, I received my early ballot in the mail last week. As a registered Democrat, my choices are Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. I have been going back and forth on which to vote for, I like some things about each of them and have some concerns about each of them. In the end though, for various reasons, I went with my gut and voted for Bernie Sanders. I've been a fan of Bernie Sanders for quite some time (just read through my blog) and in the end I just feel that his stance on the issues most align with mine. It's time for some bold ideas and Bernie is not afraid to take on the establishment.
Robert Reich says it better than me:
Robert Reich says it better than me:
“I endorse Bernie Sanders for president of the United States. He's leading a movement to reclaim America for the many, not the few,”
“This extraordinary concentration of income, wealth, and political power at the very top imperils all else – our economy, our democracy, the revival of the American middle class, the prospects for the poor and for people of color, the necessity of slowing and reversing climate change, and a sensible foreign policy not influenced by the “military-industrial complex,” as President Dwight Eisenhower once called it,”
“It is the fundamental prerequisite: We have little hope of achieving positive change on any front unless the American people are once again in control,"
“I have the deepest respect and admiration for Hillary Clinton, and if she wins the Democratic primary I’ll work my heart out to help her become president. But I believe Bernie Sanders is the agent of change this nation so desperately needs.”
“The establishment doesn’t get that most Americans couldn’t care less about economic growth because for years they’ve got few of its benefits, while suffering most of its burdens in the forms of lost jobs and lower wages."
With all this being said, I would also be very happy to vote for Hillary Clinton in November if she wins the Democratic nomination, she is perhaps the most qualified candidate for President ever. Either of them would be much better than anyone the Republican Party nominates.

2016 TPSG NFL Mock Draft 2.0
The 2016 NFL Draft is fast approaching. Now that the NFL Combine has come and gone, I think it's time for an updated post combine mock draft. Here goes:
- Tennessee Titans - Laremy Tunsil - OT - Mississippi
- Cleveland Browns - Carson Wentz - QB - North Dakota State
- San Diego Chargers - Jalen Ramsey - CB - Florida State
- Dallas Cowboys - Joey Bosa - DE - Ohio State
- Jacksonville Jaguars - Myles Jack - OLB - UCLA
- Baltimore Ravens - Ronnie Stanley - OT - Notre Dame
- San Francisco 49ers - Jared Goff - QB - California
- Miami Dophins - Vernon Hargreaves - CB - Florida
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Deforest Buckner - DE - Oregon
- New York Giants - Shaq Lawson - DE - Clemson
- Chicago Bears - A'Shawn Robinson - DT - Alabama
- New Orleans Saints - Noah Spence - DE - Easter Kentucky
- Philadelphia Eagles - Jack Conklin - OT - Michigan State
- Oakland Raiders - Mackensie Alexander - CB - Clemson
- Los Angeles Rams - Laquon Treadwell - WR - Mississippi
- Detroit Lions - Taylor Decker - OT - Ohio State
- Atlanta Falcons - Darron Lee - LB - Ohio State
- Indianapolis Colts - Ezekiel Elliott - RB - Ohio State
- Buffalo Bills - Robert Nkemdiche - DT - Mississippi
- New York Jets - Leonard Floyd - LB - Georgia
- Washington Redskins - Sheldon Rankins - DT - Louisville
- Houston Texans - Ezekiel Elliott - RB - Ohio State
- Minnesota Vikings - Andrew Billings - DT - Baylor
- Cincinnati Bengals - Corey Coleman - WR - Baylor
- Pittsburgh Steelers - Eli Apple - CB - Ohio State
- Seattle Seahawks - Jason Spriggs - OT - Indiana
- Green Bay Packers - Reggie Ragland - LB - Alabama
- Kansas City Chiefs - Will Fuller - WR - Notre Dame
- Arizona Cardinals - Paxton Lynch - QB - Memphis State
- Carolina Panthers - Kevin Dodd - DE - Clemson
- Denver Broncos - German Ifedi - OG - Texas A&M
The Titans are not going to draft a QB, I'm sure they'd love to trade out of the top pick to someone who does want to draft a QB. I'm not sure that Goff or Wentz warrant the top pick though. All that being said, they've got to protect Marcus Mariotta, so the top ranked OL on the board makes a lot of sense with the top pick of the draft.
I'm still not sure which direction the Vikings will go. DT may not be their greatest need, but I think Andrew Billings would be the best player available if the draft unfolds like my mock and I do know that the Vikings like him a lot. A WR like Laquon Treadwell or an OL like Taylor Decker would make a lot of sense here too if they were to drop down to the Vikings.
I think the Cardinals would love for Paxton Lynch to drop to them, they need a long term answer at QB and Lynch seems like a good fit for the Cardinals system. Now if a pass rusher like Noah Spence or a CB like Eli Apple were to drop to them, they would be hard to pass up (and they could target a QB like Connor Cook, Christian Hackenberg or Kevin Hogan later in the draft).

2016 Presidential Field Update
So long Ben Carson, we hardly knew you. That leaves us with 6 candidates still in the running, 4 Republicans and 2 Democrats. It seems like only yesterday that there were 22 candidates.
Here's how the remaining candidates rank in my opinion (as far as their chances):
Democrats:
Republicans:
I think Ben Carson let his ego get the best of him after the right wing media fell in love with him back in 2013. No doubt, he has a great story to tell, but just like all other candidates, he had to pander to the far right base. His lack of charisma and knowledge of foreign policy were his ultimate doom. I think he liked all the attention, I also think that running for President may have been more about building his brand and making money than actually having a desire to be President. He won't be missed.
