Minnesota 38, Illinois 34
Nice road win today for the Gophers, 38-34 in Champaign. That moves them to 2-9 on the season. It showed me a couple of things, 1) they still have some heart and pride, and 2) they do have some talent, they just need better coaching (and more experience) to bring it out. 1 game left, in 2 weeks, against Iowa. Things have been really quiet on the coaching search front. They've come out and said the following, 1) they want an experienced & successful NCAA head coach (which would rule out NFL coaches and top NCAA assistants), 2) they want someone who has actually built a winning program (not inherited one), and 3) they are willing to pay top dollars for the right candidate (in both money and years). Given that criteria, I think you could make a case for Brady Hoke (San Diego St), Randy Edsall (UConn) or Al Golden (Temple). I could live with any of those 3, I'm guessing none of those 3 will get the job though, time will tell.
