Packers 42, Vikings 10
The Vikings fall to 2-3 on the season tonight with a 42-10 TNF loss to the Packers in Green Bay. What a dreadful performance by the Vikings. If there was still any doubt about whether Christian Ponder belongs in the NFL, I think that it's safe to say they were put to rest tonight. Same as last year, stack the line to stop the run, heavy blitz, make Ponder beat you through the air, it never fails. Never again please!!
Observations:
Observations:
- Injuries have really decimated the Vikings offense.
- Christian Ponder finished the game with a woeful QBR of 45.8.
- Vikings appear to have mastered the 2 yard pass on 3rd down & 3.
- Cordarrelle Patterson needs more touches!!! Get him the damn ball!!
- Vikings offensive game plan seemed to disappear when Ponder was named starter.
- How are the Vikings down to their 3rd starting QB already this season?
- Field position really does make a difference. Vikings clearly lost that battle tonight.
- Robert Blanton sure didn't look like an NFL quality starting safety tonight.
- Vikings crossed midfield once in the first half, and fumbled.
- Turnovers: Vikings 3, Packers 1. Turnovers kill.
- Phil Simms has a long way to go as a broadcaster. Just saying.
- Were the Packers really going with a no-huddle offense with a 28-0 lead?
- I thought that we'd see more passion from a Mike Zimmer coached team.
- TE Chase Ford looks like he belongs if that matters to anyone.
- Wherefore art thou Brian Robison? Not earning that hefty contract.
- A MarQueis Gray sighting!! Finally, work him in please.
- What is the point of a field goal when you are down 42-7?
- Chandler Harnish on 3 days practice is probably better than Christian Ponder.
- I wonder if Samantha Ponder can get Christian Ponder a broadcasting job?
- Remember how bad the Packers were without Aaron Rodgers? QB play is important!
- Can we declare Thursday Night Football a failure yet?
- Up next? The Lions @ TCF Bank Stadium a week from Sunday.

Vikings 41, Falcons 28
The Vikings improved to 2-2 on the season today with a 41-28 win over the Falcons at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Teddy Bridgewater, making his first NFL start, was the star of this game, he gave the Vikings their best QB play since Brett Favre was back there. He gives me hope for the future! Mike Zimmer also impressed me with several nice calls, I think they are in good hands. Nice win Vikes!!!
Observations:
Observations:
- I did not like seeing Teddy Bridgewater being carted off the field.
- The Vikings version of thunder & lightning fared rather well.
- Mike Zimmer is proving to be a gutsy coach.
- I'm still puzzled by that 10 second run off at the end of the first half.
- Matt Asiata is becoming a touchdown machine. 3 touchdowns today.
- Total Yards: Minnesota 558, Atlanta 411
- Turnovers: Minnesota 0, Atlanta 2
- Jarius Wright showed up to play. 8 catches, 132 yards.
- The Vikings defense needs to do a much better job on third downs.
- It was easily Matt Kalil's best game of the year.
- Anthony Barr is playing some solid LB thus far.
- Still need more touches for Cordarrelle Patterson.
- Xavier Rhodes seems to be catching onto the new DPI rules.
- That Falcons offensive line is in a shambles.
- Captain Munnerlyn struggled today, I hope that's more of a mirage than a trend.
- The Vikings pass rush needs some work, they're not getting nearly enough pressure.
- I don't know if there's a Safety in the league I'd take over Harrison Smith.
- When did the Vikings implement the read option offense?
- No Peterson, Rudolph, Greenway, Fusco or Cassel for the Vikings today.
- Football in September should always be played outdoors!
- Up next? @ Lambeau Field on Thursday night to take on the Packers.

Minnesota 30, Michigan 14
The Gophers moved to 4-1 today with a 30-14 win over Michigan at The Big House in Ann Arbor. What a nice win for the Jerry Kill and the Gophers! They are without a doubt headed in the right direction as a program. Brady Hoke on the other hand should probably start packing his bags, his decision making in this one left me scratching my head on several occasions, especially regarding his QB's. The lynch mob seems to be forming for him at this very moment. Great win Gophers!!!
Observations:
Observations:
- The Little Brown Jug is back in Minnesota!! It feels so right!
- Mitch Leidner got the start, he played well too.
- David Cobb just continues to roll! 32 carries for 183 yards.
- Steven Richardson Jr really impressed me today. Fireplug!
- Why not more jet sweeps or bubble screens from Minnesota?
- Jack Lynn has been a pleasant surprise at LB for the Gophers.
- It was good to see Maxx Williams back out on the field today.
- Cameron Botticelli had a heckuva game at DT.
- This win had to be especially sweet for Jerry Kill.
- Total Yards: Minnesota 373, Michigan 171
- I'm surprised that Chris Streveler didn't get any playing time today.
- Craig James looked good for the most part on punt return duties.
- Moving Gaelin Elmore from TE to DE appears to have been a wise decision.
- So far so good for the Gophers on fourth down this season.
- Briean Boddy-Calhoun is playing every bit as good as Eric Murray at CB.
- 3 for 3 for Ryan Santoso! Love that leg!
- Not to quibble, but a faster start from the Gophers would be nice.
- Someone needs to explain to me why Shane Morris wasn't pulled earlier.
- I was surprised that Devin Gardner didn't get the start for Michigan.
- Why is Minnesota playing at Michigan 2 years in a row?
- So who replaces Brady Hoke? Jim Harbaugh seems to be the hot name.
- Up next? Northwestern @ TCF Bank Stadium in 2 weeks.
Top 10 All Time Yankees
Even though I have tired of the Derek Jeter farewell tour, and think that he was a tad overhyped because he played in New York, I do admit that I did enjoy Jeter's final home game and I do think that when all is said and done, you do need to rank him among the Top 10 New York Yankees of All Time.

UCLA 62, Arizona State 27
The Sun Devils fell to 3-1 on the season tonight with a 62-27 loss to UCLA at Sun Devil Stadium. It was a nightmare of a game for the Sun Devils, they really seemed to lose their composure in the second quarter and could never recover. Add in too many turnover and some completely horrid tackling and it made for a really ugly game. I hate to say it but I'm not optimistic going forward either unless they can somehow tighten up that defense.
Observations:
Observations:
- I love Blackout Night at Sun Devil Stadium! Well, except the result.
- No Taylor Kelly tonight, they really need him out there!
- Mike Bercovici had some good and bad moments replacing Kelly.
- For the record, Manny Wilkins was Bercovici's back up tonight.
- That second quarter was a killer for the Sun Devils.
- 62 points is the most allowed by ASU in Sun Devil Stadium history.
- There wasn't much time to catch your breath with these 2 offenses.
- At least Jaelen Strong showed up tonight. 12 catches, 146 yards.
- Turnovers: Arizona State 4, UCLA 0
- I was not too impressed with Arizona State's tackling tonight.
- Yes, that 50 yard field goal was a career long for Zane Gonzalez.
- Todd Graham needs to do a better job of using his timeouts.
- All of those UCLA big plays were real momentum killers for Arizona State.
- I think that I hate you Ishmael Adams!
- Do not desecrate the fork! It will come back to haunt you at some point!
- I'm not sure how I feel about those flaming ASU helmets.
- I was impressed with Brett Hundley, I predict a nice NFL future.
- Just think how good UCLA would be if they played with a little discipline.
- On the bright side, Sun Devil Stadium is in line for some nice renovations.
- Up next? @ USC next Saturday.
