Kia Motors

Watch out Toyota, given all of your recent problems I'm guessing that KIA is about to be nipping at your heels.  Kia made a wise hire in former Audi chief designer Peter Schreyer.  Suddenly Kia is making some very stylish, fuel efficient AND affordable cars.  Industry leading warranty to boot.

Don't believe me, check a few of them out on the next page:  Forte, Forte Koup, Sportage, Optima & Soul.

Phoenix Coyotes

Tough loss for the Coyotes tonight.  That ends their season.  What a season it was though.  They had been struggling struggling mightily on the ice, they had the "Great One" holding them back as head coach and they were on the verge to moving back to Canada.  Then they hired Dave Tippett as head coach.  It's amazing what a difference a real coach can make.  Wayne Gretzky is no doubt the greatest hockey player to ever lace up the skates but he really was a horrendous head coach.  They really seemed to play like they had a purpose under Tippett, that led to wins, that led to an increase in attendance, that led to new local buyers emerging and then the playoffs.  All in all I'd call it a very successful season for the Coyotes.  The future looks bright too, they've got a good young nucleus returning.

Alan Faneca

Great signing by the Arizona Cardinals today in Alan Faneca.  Anytime you have the chance to sign a 9 time Pro Bowler to help out your offensive line you do it.  It can only help Matt Leinart and Beanie Wells too.  It's great to see the Cardinals making these kinds of moves, they've been few and far between in past years.

    Arizona Photo Radar

Initially, I was in favor of Arizona's Photo Radar system of traffic control, I didn't see the big deal, I figured if you don't like it just don't speed and you won't have to worry about it.  Then I got ticketed.  I was driving down a local freeway (SR51), I assumed the speed limit on the freeway was 65mph as it is on most of the local freeways, I was wrong, apparently there is a small stretch of the highway where it dips down to 55mph and of course that's where they put the damn camera.  I got the ticket in the mail a couple weeks later, they had a nice picture of me and it said I was going 68mph in a 55mph range.  The ticket was for $181.50.  I was irked, the camera location reeked of a speed trap, had the speed limit been 65mph I would have been well with in the 11mph cushion they had publicized (they are only ticketing people going at least 11mph over the speed limit).  Yeah, yeah, I know, I was still going over 65mph but if they are going to publicize the limit as being 11mph over the speed limit that becomes the defacto speed limit.   So now my options are:  1) pay the ticket, 2) fight it in court, 3) ignore it.   I'm choosing to ignore it, according to Arizona law the ticket is not valid unless it is personally served to you and receiving a ticket in the mail does not meet that criteria.

    Ms TPSG

I think it's time to crown Ms TPSG (The Perpetually Single Guy).  There's really only one qualification to be the Ms TPSG, it's to be HOT, and I mean steaming HOT!  All comers are welcome, the crown will constantly be up for review.  I will need to think on this and will crown a winner next week.

In the meantime, see the next page for a list of the top contenders.

    Arizona Proposition 100

I got my early ballot for Arizona's Proposition 100 today.  This proposition proposes to increase Arizona's state sales tax by 1 cent per dollar for a 3 year period to help fund primary and secondary education, health and human services and public safety.   While I'm not a big fan of tax increases, given the state of the local economy and given the dire consequences should this proposition fail I am hesitantly endorsing a YES vote.  I'm more than willing to do my part to be part of the solution.

    Vikings Draft

The Vikings dealt their number 1 pick to Lions for additional picks yesterday so didn't pick until today. They had had 2 picks in round 2. They traded away their 3rd round pick to move up in round 2.  I like what they did, they didn't have any pressing needs but did need to add depth at a number of positions and I think today was a good start.

Their first pick of round 2 was Chris Cook a big CB out of Virginia.  I was hoping they'd select Taylor Mays here but I can live with this pick, even with the Lito Sheppard signing they could use another good young corner.  Nice size too, that will help in covering some of the bigger receivers in the league that are now so in vogue.

With their second pick of round 2 the Vikings selected Stanford RB Toby Gerhart.  I love this pick, I got a chance to watch Gerhart quite a few times on TV, he's a big bruising back, he reads his blockers well, he can catch the ball out of the backfield and he has some really deceptive speed for such a big back.

Check out the next page to review all the Vikings draft picks.

    Cardinals Draft

The Cardinals picked Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee with their number 1 draft pick. They had a huge need at NT and I think they may have found a good one.

Check out the next page to see additional picks by the Cardinals. .

    Sam Bradford

Sam Bradford was selected with the number 1 pick of the NFL Draft tonight. He's got all of the intangibles to become a very good NFL quarterback but it seems a bit risky to me to paying number 1 money to somebody who hasn't been able to get through either of the past 2 college football seasons.

    Land of the Lost

What the heck is going on with the Arizona state legislature? Ever since Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano left office to take over the Department of Homeland Security and was replaced by Republican Jan Brewer all hell has broken loose over there. Just look at some of the idiocy.
Hopefully the voters of Arizona will wake up come November.

***Update, the legislature did come to their senses in the end on a few issues but I still wasn't pleased with their far right wing agenda.***

      Free Porn

One of the great things about the advent of the internet has been the boon in the availability of free porn. Seriously, it's become the golden age of porn. If this was available to me when I was a teenager I would have never left the house. Amongst the sites that I recommend for free porn are SpankWire, YouJizz and T'n A Flix. Enjoy!

      Ben Roethlisberger

How exactly does the NFL suspend somebody 6 games based upon unproven allegations that didn't even result in arrest or criminal charges? If the NFLPA doesn't file a grievance in this case it's time for the players to seek new leadership.

Late word is that the Steelers are shopping Roethlisberger and that the Cardinals may have some interest. The Cards should make a run at him IMO, maybe offer Leinart and a draft pick.

      Lito Sheppard

Nice signing by the Vikings today in Lito Sheppard. With Cedric Griffin's knee injury in the NFC Championship game there is a desperate need for depth at CB. Sheppard is a solid veteran, he was apparently a bit banged up last year but when/if healthy I think he'll provide a nice veteran presence. Plus it will allow the Vikings to look somewhere besides CB in the draft tomorrow.
